Death is an unwanted reality. No one wants to leave this world. Once someone is dead, there is no coming back. But, there are some instances, some stories that are hard to believe but are real. Sometimes we come across the stories of the people who defeated the dead and came back. Here is a list of five people who defied death and came back to life again after being gone. Strange, but true.
1. Kelvin Santos
In a case that sounds almost too incredible to be true, two-year-old Kelvin Santos rose from the dead to the astonishment of medicos around the world. It has claimed that Kelvin stopped breathing while being treated for pneumonia at a hospital in Belem, Brazil. The child’s devastated family took him home, where the grieving family held awake through the night. The next day, an hour before his funeral was due to take place, the toddler miraculously sat up in his coffin and said: “Daddy, can I have some water?” He did this in front of his entire family before casually laying down again. The family rushed to the boy’s side immediately only to find him deceased, this time permanently. Doctors do not have any explanation for this miracle to this day.
2. Anne Greene
Anne Greene was an English domestic servant who was wrongfully sentenced to death in 1650, for the murder of her child, who had been stillborn. At her request, several of her friends pulled at her swinging body and struck severe blows to make sure that she was dead. The prison doctor declared her dead, and her body was given to the medical students at Oxford University for dissection. The very next day, just before the study was about to take place, the Oxford physicians realized that Anne had a faint pulse and was weakly breathing. And after undergoing treatment, she was revived. Considering this to be an act of God, she granted a free pardon.
3. Carlos Camejo
On September 17th, 2007, 33-year-old Carlos Camejo of Venezuela was declared dead after a highway accident and taken to the morgue, where doctors began an autopsy only to realize something was wrong when he started bleeding. Then suddenly, Camejo woke up screaming, with the unbearable pain overwhelming him. The doctors quickly sought to stitch up the incision on his face. His grieving wife turned up at the morgue to identify her husband’s body only to find him alive with a facial scar as a souvenir of his ordeal.
4. Val Thomas
On May 17th, 2008, Val Thomas was brought to a hospital in West Virginia after suffering multiple heart attacks. She kept on artificial life support. The doctors at the hospital declared her brain-dead after the BIS Monitor, who recorded her brain waves, showed no activity for more than 17 hours. When Val’s family was busy discussing organ donations and allowing doctors to discontinue life support, she suddenly woke up and started talking to the nurses. She was considered a medical miracle by her doctors, who could not explain how she pulled herself from death.
5. Lyudmila Steblitskaya
Some people are just stubborn. This Siberian lady was not satisfied with having defied death once, so she did it again the second time. It was in November 2011 when it happened for the first time. She was declared dead after being brought to a hospital on Friday. The funeral, set for the following Monday, had to be rapidly canceled when she woke up after spending three days in a freezing morgue. In October 2012, Lyudmila died again after complications arose, only to wake up back in front of amazed doctors.
