In the aftermath of the devastating terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, India has implemented security measures nationwide. Amid high tension between India and Pakistan, popular travel YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra has been arrested on serious espionage charges, accused of providing sensitive Indian military information to Pakistan. Her father has now broken his silence on the shocking allegations.
Jyoti Malhotra’s Father Denies All Claims

Jyoti Malhotra has built a substantial following with her YouTube travel channel “Travel with Jo”, with 4 million subscribers. However, her recent arrest for an alleged connection to Pakistani intelligence has drawn widespread attention on social media platforms.
Her father, Haris Kumar, has firmly denied all the allegations against his daughter, speaking to ANI. He insisted that Jyoti‘s visit to Pakistan was strictly professional, solely for creating content for her YouTube channel. Haris said,
“She used to visit Pakistan and other places to shoot videos for YouTube. If she has some friends there, can’t she call them? I have no demands, but give us our phones. A case has been registered against us.”
He also mentioned that authorities had confiscated their electronic devices and financial documents during the investigation.
Serious Allegations Against The Travel Influencer, Jyoti Malhotra
Jyoti Malhotra, originally from Hisar in Haryana, launched her travel channel on YouTube in 2011. With 487 videos showcasing her journey to various destinations, including Bangladesh and Bhutan, she has built a large fan following.
Hisar police have detained Jyoti Malhotra on multiple serious charges. She allegedly provided critical information about India to Pakistan’s intelligence agencies and deliberately portrayed Pakistan positively on its social media platforms. Authorities have charged her under Section 152 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Official Secrets Act.
Connection To A Pakistani Official

According to reporters, Malhotra has established a connection with Ehsan-Ur-Rahim, known as Danish, who worked at the Pakistani High Commission. The Indian External Affairs Ministry had previously declared Danish a persona non grata for conducting activities outside his official capacity in India, as detailed in the formal complaint filed in Hisar.
Malhotra herself revealed her association with Danish in one of her vlogs. Footage shows her attending an Iftar celebration on Pakistan‘s National Day, where she greets Ehsan-Ur-Rahim warmly, suggesting they were already acquainted, and thanks him for organizing the event.
Investigation With Jyoti Malhotra
Investigators claim Malhotra made two trips to Pakistan in 2023, during which she reportedly met individuals named Shakir Rana, Shahbaz, and Ali Ehwan. To avoid raising suspicions, she allegedly saved contacts under fictional names like Jatt Randhawa on her devices.
In 2024, she visited Kashmir and published videos featuring the Srinagar-Banihal railway line and Dal Lake. Security officials also allege that she developed a close relationship with the Pakistani agent, even travelling with him to Bali, Indonesia.
Her arrest is reportedly part of Operation Sindoor, which authorities describe as India’s response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack.
India’s Security Responses To The Pahalgam Attack
The Pahalgam attack has prompted immediate security enhancements across India. The government has increased troop deployments in sensitive areas with intensified surveillance in vulnerable regions. Intelligence agencies are on high alert with improved coordination between Central and state forces. Authorities are also reviewing protocols for civilian movement in the conflict zone. As investigations continue into Jyoti Malhotra’s case, her father’s denial contrasts sharply with the serious allegations being made by Indian security officials. The case highlights the complex security challenges facing India, particularly in its relations with its neighbouring country, Pakistan.
