Hoskins’ Olympic gold champion teammate from Rio 2016 and London 2012, Anna Meares, shared a picture of them on X. Meares wrote, “I have a very heavy heart.” “I’m thinking of their kids, relatives, and other pals. It’s a sad and challenging time. Mel Hoskins, rest in peace.”

The international organization for women cyclists, CPA Women, continued, “We are saddened to learn of Melissa Hoskins’ passing and offer our condolences to her family and all those who had the good fortune to ride with her during her far too brief life. “We will miss you, Melissa.”

In addition, Dennis’s 2022 World Tour cycling team, JumboVisma, shared on X: We have been deeply saddened and regretful to hear of Melissa Dennis Hoskins’s demise. “We would like to offer our sympathies to her friends, acquaintances, and family. We send them our best wishes for courage in the wake of this tragic loss.”

Furthermore, Hoskins was an accomplished track rider. As a member of Australia’s women’s team pursuit quartet in 2015, she won a world championship and set a new record. She competed in the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games in the same event. However, she narrowly missed out on a medal in London (2012).

We pray that her soul rests in peace!
