Udit Narayan’s Married Life

Audiences fell in love with Udit Narayan’s singing but his genuine relationship experienced many difficulties beyond what appeared onscreen. Udit Narayan tied the knot for the first time with Ranjana Narayan Jha in 1984. The marriage was kept private because, at that time, Udit was still struggling to make a name for himself, and his personal life remained largely in the background.
As his career success grew during this period the media began watching his personal life with greater intensity. In 1985 Udit developed an affection for Deepa Gahatraj who had arrived in Mumbai to pursue Bollywood dreams after moving from Nepal that same year. Hence, that was the time when Udit Narayan fell in love with Deepa Gahatraj. Without informing and divorcing Ranjana he marries Deepa Gahatraj.
Udit Narayan Love Story

Ranjana claimed that Udit had married Deepa without divorcing her or even informing her about the second marriage. “I have come here to seek justice. He kept me in the dark about his second marriage with Deepa… and now I have come to seek my rightful place.”
Ranjana also revealed that Udit had silenced her for years, threatening to commit suicide if she ever spoke up. “Whenever I threatened to go public about our marriage, he silenced me with threats of committing suicide. Now I have no fears and I will take legal recourse,” she added.
Udit Narayan denied all the claims. In an interview, he stated Ranjana is some lady who just wants attention. He said he never met Ranjana and denied all the allegations. Of course, the show doesn’t end here and Ranjana was ready with all the documentation and proof of her marriage. She went to the State Women’s Commission with all the evidence he had. Despite numerous summons, Udit Narayan ignored them.

When the commission placed travel restrictions on Udit Narayan he became unable to avoid the mounting legal pressure. Udit agreed to speak with Ranjana after pressures from escalating tensions and the threat that his professional duties could be interrupted. Both sides engaged in multiple months of complicated negotiations which followed the embargo.
