Gujarat Titans defeated Chennai Super Kings in the first match of IPL 2023. Hardik Pandya, the captain of Gujarat Titans, has won the toss and opted to field first against MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings. The match was played at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. There was an IPL opening ceremony before the start of the game. Many celebrities like Arijit Singh, Rashmika Mandhana, and Tamannaah Bhatia performed in the IPL opening ceremony. However, the Gujarat Titans had an awkward start to their game when Ravi Shastri, the sports representative, referred to Gujarat Titans as Gujarat Giants. If you do not know, Gujarat Giants is a WPL team.
Ravi Shastri took to toss duties and began in his own style by saying,
“Coming up to toss time, but before that, this is what the two teams are playing for (referring to IPL 2023 trophy), the Tata IPL, 15 going on 16 and getting bigger and bigger by the year. Time for the coin to go up for the first time in IPL ’23, Hardik Pandya – Gujarat Giants, MS Dhoni – Chennai Super Kings, Javagal Srinath – the match referee and the toss representative.”
As soon as Ravi Shastri said Gujarat Giants in place of Gujarat Titans, Hardik Pandya knew that Ravi Shastri had made a blunder. He gave a cheeky smile while looking at MS Dhoni and the match referee Javagal Srinath. Ravi Shastri was part of the commentary panel in the recently concluded inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL). Even the fans felt that the former coach was still in the zone of the WPL tournament. The video of it has gone viral on social media. Check out.
