What’s so special about Osla?
Har ki doon valley (which means valley of Gods) is the place with mythical stories of Mahabharata. There was a clan that was faithful towards the Kaurava’s (Duryodhan) that lived in village of Osla. They were so loyal to Duryodhan that they built a temple for him and till date they preach Duryodhan and not any other God in Osla.
The village people dress up in a way that depicts their culture and you know they have their own government with their rules and regulations. Yes, this village is far from the eyes of Indian government.
They have a king who visits the village once a month when the main pooja (prayer) is done for the entire village. You will find 250 houses in the village with just a population of 600 people.
Wondering how they survive? The villagers have potato and wheat fields, which is their source of food and income. Every house has cows and goats which are their major source of milk. More importantly the place has cleaner air to breathe.

You need to start from a village “Snakri” which is the base camp for the trek. After 15 kms of trekking from another village called Taluka, you will reach Osla. However, when you are going for Har ki doon trek, a hike is must.
But no need to worry! You can stay in any home there as the villagers will be more than happy to host you as their guests with minimum charges.
When people are gifted with more choices and opportunities, they feel more unfulfillment in their lives. After visiting Osla village and after meeting the people of Osla, you will definitely experience the true awesomeness and the real beauty of life.
With the limited resources available, they live a very simple life, work in fields and spend time with their family. There is really life in it. Isn’t it?
