The match 5 of the Cricket World Cup was played between Bangladesh and South Africa at The Oval, London. Bangladesh surprised South Africa with 21 runs win. Bangladesh scored their highest ever ODI score 330. South Africa won the toss and decided to field first at Match 5. Watch the key moments of the match.
1. Bangladesh Positive Start
After sent to bat first, Bangladesh started positively. Soumya Sarkar took an aggressive approach and didn’t let South African pacers Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada to settle down. Soumya scored 42 runs in 30 balls. After Tamim and Soumya got out, it was Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim who anchored the innings. These two scored 142 runs together in run a ball.
This partnership provided the base for Bangladesh to score big. Both scored half-centuries. Shakib scored 75 and Mushfiqur scored 78. After they got out, Mahmudullah provided the finishing touch and Bangladesh scored their highest ever score in One Day International Cricket. Bangladesh finished of their innings at 330 for 6 wickets. Imran Tahir, Chris Morris, and Andile Phehlukwayo took 2 wickets each.
2. South Africa Cautious Start
South Africa started the chase cautiously. Both openers, Quinton De Kock and Aiden Markram were looking good. But one misunderstanding sent De Kock back to the pavilion in the form of run-out.
Aiden Markram was solid till he misses the ball from Shakib Al Hasan and bowled out at 45. Without AB Devilliers, South Africa biggest hope was their captain Faf Du Plessis.
Faf started positively and also scored quick fifty. Faf got trapped on Mehidy Hasan ball and got bowled out at 62. David Miller and Rassie Van Der Dussen got a good start but failed to convert it to a big score. Miller scored 38. Rassie van der Dussen swings and misses, but Mohammad Saifuddin doesn’t miss and bowled him on 41.
Duminy tried but the pressure of the run chase and the World Cup got him out at 45. South Africa never chased more than 300 successfully in the World Cup and today was no special. The high scoring match has gone in the favor of Bangladesh as the regular fall of wickets kept South Africa out from the run-chase as they lost the match by 21 runs.

3. Shakib Al Hasan – Man Of The Match
The man of the match was Shakib Al Hasan who scored 75 runs and took a wicket of Aiden Markram. This is the first time since 1992 that South Africa lost two matches in a row in the World Cup.
South Africa will have to play their next match against World no. 2 ranking team India at Southampton on 5th June.
