Chasing the huge total, RR stumbled in the beginning and lost a couple of wickets in the powerplay overs. However, the run rate was just below 10 after 6 overs. They scored 57 runs with the loss of 2 wickets.

The in-form opener Jos Buttler was turning out to be a threat to the CSK bowlers and he completed his half-century. He continued the devastation on CSK bowlers. However, the batsmen on the other end did not accompany him.

RR needed 28 runs in the last two overs. Buttler and Gowtham were on the crease.  Gowtham hit two sixes in the over before losing his wicket on the last ball of 19th over. 12 runs were required in the last over.  Buttler finished it and RR secured the victory by 4 wickets. Jos Buttler scored unbeaten 95 runs off 60 balls hitting 11 fours and 2 sixes. He was chosen the man of the match.
