The Gympie-Gympie plant, one of the most hazardous in the world, has reached the UK. Its sting is claimed to be so potent that it can induce thoughts of self-harm in certain people. People claim that the plant’s painful effects are as agonizing as being simultaneously burnt and electrocuted.

Gympie-Gympie is often kept in specialized gardens. However, a courageous local in the UK chose to cultivate the plant in their own residence. Experts highly advise any such curious person to restrain their horses and avoid growing the plant close to their residence.

The deadly Gympie-Gympie plant was taken from the British homeowner’s home and put in a locked area called the Poison Garden at Alnwick Garden. Naturally, the rainforests of Australia and Indonesia are home to a healthy population of this plant. It is a member of the Urticaceae family of nettles.

A road surveyor’s horse was said to have been stung by this plant when it was discovered for the first time in 1866. The horse went insane and tragically passed away after two hours of being stung by the poisonous plant.

John Knox, a tour guide at the Poison Garden, claims that the Gympie-Gympie plant has tiny needles that resemble hair. Your skin feels like it is burning when these needles are in contact with it. Over the following 20 to 30 minutes, the agony worsens and can linger for weeks or even months.

This can occur even if you briefly contact the plant by accident. John Knox compares the sensation to being simultaneously electrocuted and put on fire. The herb is known to encourage suicidal thoughts and extreme discomfort. At least one instance of a person allegedly shooting themselves after suffering severe agony from the Gympie-Gympie plant has been documented.

We advise you not to be courageous and curious now that you know about the plant. Be safe, and be aware. What do you think about this dangerous plant? Are you scared? Tell us in the comments below. We are waiting for your response! Stay tuned for further updates.
