With an estimated total individual wealth of $24,803 billion, China has been ranked second in the list of the world’s wealthiest countries for 2017, according to a report by New World Wealth, while the U.S. topped the chart.

It’s no surprise that the United States is the wealthiest country in the world as the total wealth held in 2017 amounted to $64,584 billion, followed by China at the second place with $24,803 billion and Japan with $19,522 billion at third.

Others on the list include the United Kingdom (4th, $9,919 billion), Germany (5th, $9,660 billion), and India (6th, $8,230 billion).

France is the seventh wealthiest in the world in terms of total individual wealth held ($6,649 billion), ahead of Canada ($6,393 billion), Australia (U$6,142 billion) and Italy ($4,276 billion), which came in at 8th, 9th and 10th slots, respectively.

Total wealth refers to the private wealth held by all the individuals living in each nation. It includes all their assets (business interests, cash, equities, property) less any liabilities.
