Akhilesh Yadav, the head of the Samajwadi Party and a former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, posted a video to social media. It showed about six stray bulls fighting and running wild among the people who had gathered for Ravana Dahan, causing a situation similar to a stampede.

Bulls Creating A Chaos

There were rumors that the district administration in Chandauli had arranged a magnificent fair on the occasion of Vijayadashami, where the burning of Ravana’s effigies was to occur. Thousands of people from surrounding towns had come to celebrate and watch the burning of a massive Ravana effigy that had been prepared for incineration.

But as soon as a group of stray bulls entered the venue and began to go wild, panic broke out, and the crowd began to flee. Under the enormous Ravana effigy, the cows were spotted locking horns and causing chaos among the people.

The footage showed policemen following the bulls while carrying dogs in an effort to subdue and apprehend the wild animals.

The People And The CM React

People at the event fled for safety while a police squad battled to move the strange beasts away from the ground for several minutes, resulting in a situation akin to a stampede. Ultimately, the police were able to scare the animals away and avert a catastrophic incident.

In the meantime, the incident prompted a jab at the local government from the former UP CM. “The job of the administration is not only to give permission for the fairs but also to look after the security arrangements,” Akhilesh said in Hindi while sharing a video of the incident on X. There will be a threat to the public if the police and administration are unable to observe animals wandering freely throughout the fair. How can something that isn’t even visible be secure? The most delicate responsibility that governments have is to protect the people.
