After making a name for himself in the Indian National Men’s Cricket Team, India cricketer Rinku Singh is set to get engaged to Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj on June 8 in Lucknow. Tufani Saroj, the politician’s father, confirmed the news on Sunday.
Only close friends and family will be present at the ring ceremony. Politicians, athletes, businesspeople, and movie stars will all be present for the wedding. The wedding will be traditional and lavish. With so many well-known people from many industries attending the wedding, the public will undoubtedly be looking forward to it.
Who Is Priya Saroj?
Priya Saroj is a lawyer and politician who was born in Varanasi’s Karkhiyaon village on November 23, 1998. She graduated with a degree in arts from Delhi University after completing her education at the Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute in New Delhi.
She subsequently attended Amity University in Noida to obtain a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree. Last year, Priya, who is 25 years old and an ardent member of the Samajwadi Party, was elected to the Lok Sabha from Machhlishahr in the Jaunpur district. As a result, she was elected to the Lok Sabha as the second youngest candidate. By a margin of 35,850 votes, she defeated Bholanath Saroj, the head of the BJP.
Her father, Tufani Saroj, is also a politician and a member of the Samajwadi Party. He is currently an MLA from the Kerakat constituency and has served as an MP three times. Priya made her first public appearance during the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, campaigning for her father.
Hailing from Karkhiyaon village in Varanasi, Priya Saroj has been actively involved with the Samajwadi Party (SP) for several years. In 2024, she was elected to the Lok Sabha, representing the Machhlishahr constituency in Jaunpur district.
Rinku Singh’s Rise In Indian Cricket
Rinku Singh rose to fame during the 2023 IPL season when he smashed five consecutive sixes off Yash Dayal in a dramatic finish against the Gujarat Titans. Since then, he has donned the India jersey in two ODIs and 33 T20Is, scoring 601 runs, including three half-centuries with a top score of 69.
Though his team, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), had a forgettable run in IPL 2025 — finishing eighth on the points table with just five wins out of 14 matches — Rinku managed to maintain a strong individual performance. He scored 206 runs across 13 games at an average of 29.42 and an impressive strike rate of 153.73. Despite the underwhelming IPL, Rinku remains a crucial part of India’s T20I setup. He has notable List-A stats: 1,899 runs in 52 innings at an average of 48.69, with one century and 17 fifties.
How Did Priya Saroj And Rinku Singh Meet?
According to reports, her friend’s father, a former cricket player, introduced Rinku and Priya to one another. Their wedding is reportedly scheduled for November 18 at the Taj Hotel in Varanasi.
“Priya and Rinku have been friends for almost a year. Although they both liked each other, their relationship required the approval of their families,” Tufani Saroj was quoted by PTI as stating. “This marriage has been approved by both families after meeting in Aligarh.”
Earlier, social media buzz suggested that Rinku and Priya were already engaged after news of their marriage plans surfaced. However, it has now been confirmed that the official engagement will take place this month.
