Holi being the most colorful festival is like a war with your skin after you’re done playing with colors. Your skin needs to be cleaned while you have colors everywhere over you. So after you are done celebrating it with your loved ones, you need to rush and clean up yourself first. Here is what you should do.
1. Holi Skin Care
Once you are back after a nice play of colors with your loved ones, you know it is time to face the war of removing colors! Try to start doing it as soon as possible, i.e wash off the colors while it is wet. The earliest, the better it is. If the colors dry, it gets a little difficult to get rid of them easily. No need to panic though, if you can’t wash them off while they are wet, they would come off slowly with every shower.
2. Face Detox
For face detox, add two tablespoons of lemon juice to a bowl of curd, and apply on the areas having color. Then, take a bath with normal or lukewarm water to take the color off. Alternatively, mix gram flour, almond oil, and milk cream in rose water. Make it into a thick paste and apply on the areas having color. Keep it on till the paste dries. Remove it by rubbing it with your hands. After washing off the color with water, drop some rose water in your eyes and rest. Your eyes will feel relaxed.
3. Home Made Remedy
Wash off colors from your face using lukewarm water and then apply a mixture of sea salt, glycerin and few drops of aroma oil. This mixture is anti-bacterial & anti-fungal which helps protect the skin from the harsh effects of chemicals in the colors.
4. Don’t Rub Your Skin
Never ever rub your skin vigorously with soap, etc. in a quest to wipe the face-off colors. This would remove less of colors and instead damage the skin more. Go for a facial cleanser or baby oil instead of soap to wash your face and apply a lot of moisturizer after that. Also strictly avoid bleaching, waxing or facial for a week before and after Holi. This regime is important to follow because these procedures leave the skin pores open which can prove to be harmful as the residue of colors can easily seep into these pores and make their way to inner layers of skin.
5. Go Natural
If you want you can also rub some lemon wedges over your skin. The natural bleaching agent in lemons helps remove the sturdy stains which otherwise doesn’t go away easily. Rub it on for some time and then wash it off. After washing it off, make sure to apply ample moisturizer to prevent the skin from dryness.
6. Hair Care
After playing Holi, wash off your hair with plain water so that most of the color comes off. Wash immediately with a mild shampoo and conditioner. Mix two tablespoons of olive oil with four tablespoons of honey and a few drops of lemon juice. Mix well and apply this nourishing pack to your hair and scalp. Leave it on for 30 minutes and rinse off with a mild shampoo and warm water.
These tips will surely help you fight off all those colors and get you a normal face back. Don’t overdo them either and just follow our tips. Happy Holi.
