May 6, 2018, brought two IPL matches to double the thrill for the fans. In the first match, Mumbai Indians defeated KKR. Everyone had his eye on Match 38, the contest between Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals. KXIP performed well with the ball as well as with the bat.  And, ended up registering a win over RR by 6 wickets.

KXIP won the toss and opted to field first. KXIP bowler, Ravichandran Ashwin got the early break for the team when he dismissed Arcy Short in the very first over. After the initial shock, Rajasthan Royals had to recover early. They made a decent score of 45 runs in first six overs. However, they lost a couple of wickets.

Although, KXIP bowlers managed to take two more wickets, however, Jos Buttler continued to produce runs from one end. RR managed to put up 104 runs on the scoreboard till the end of 13 overs. No doubt, they wanted to hike the run rate in the late overs. Jos Buttler scored 51 runs in 39 balls, hitting seven fours.

Kings XI bowlers kept the attack mode on and they took wickets after wickets. On the other hand, RR lost wickets chronically but they kept the score progress. After the end of 20 overs, RR made 152/9. KXIP bowlers performed well, Mujeeb Ur Rahman struck three wickets and captured the man of the match award.

The target was not that much hard to achieve but still, all the eyes of KXIP fans were on the openers. Chris Gayle was dismissed early by Jofra Archer. The start was comparatively slower for KXIP as they could only put up 34 runs in the powerplay overs and also lost two wickets in the process.

Rahul Lokesh and Karun Nair added 50 runs for the third wicket before the partnership was broken by Aruneet Singh. Rahul Lokesh continued the struggle and held his end.
