61-year-old Harish Salve, the former Solicitor General of India, is today's most costly legal advisor in India. He has spoken to prominent cases like Mulayam Singh Yadav, Prakash Singh Badal, and Lalit Modi, however, his stature (and fees) began soaring after he won Mukesh Ambani's gas debate against sibling Anil who was spoken to by leading lawyer Ram Jethmalani. His most recent high-profile cases were for Ratan Tata & Sunil Mittal. He is currently representing Indian side in the International Court of Justice(ICJ) for former Navy officer, Kulbhushan Jadhav who has been alleged by Pakistan of being an Indian Spy.
Harish Salve, born on 22 June 1955, belongs to a family of lawyers and politicians. His father NPK Salve was a senior member of INC and his mother was a doctor. His grandfather, PK Salve was a successful criminal lawyer and his great-grandfather was a Munsif (subordinate judge). He is married to Meenakshi and is a father of 2 daughters, Sakshi and Saaniya. Harish Salve was named solicitor general of India at the age of 43. Mr. Salve is fond of music and plays piano, passionately. He counts Mr. Subhash Chandra of Zee network and Mr. Naresh Goyal of Jet Airways amongst his close friends.
Mr. Harish Salve is representing India in the International Court of Justice to bring Mr. Kulbhushan Jadhav back and set him free of the irrelevant accusations of Pakistan on him. Mr. Jadhav is a former Navy officer, who was kidnapped by the neighbor country and alleged of being an Indian spy and sentenced to hang him. Despite being one of the most expensive lawyers in the country, Mr. Salve took this case and charged Rs. 1, YES, just Rs. 1. As of the moment, he was successful in turning the case in favor of Mr. Jadhav & all Indians.

We are grateful to Mr.Harish Salve for presenting India’s case so effectively before ICJ. I assure the nation that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi we will leave no stone unturned to save. I compliment my team of officers in the MEA for their tireless efforts and hard work.”
