We live in a diverse world filled with versatile social and cultural practices. Though we are moving towards modernization ie. a smart future, still some people are often found chasing their cultural taboos or strictest laws framed by the almighty whom they believe. And not just small groups of people but whole countries are sometimes found trusting and following various laws framed by their respective leader. Come on let’s have a look at some famous ones.
China
China has become pretty famous this year as the proud parent of COVID-19. But this isn’t the only thing it is famous for. As we all know, China is a communist nation and a word against its government may cost you your life. Even their mass media and the web is strictly monitored by the government.
Japan
In Japan, the feudal system has a lot to do with business. The excellence of employees is given so much importance that Japanese companies impose strict policies on work and now it’s an obligation. Another thing to worry about is that speaking about World War 2 is not tolerated here.
Singapore
Here in Singapore, if you think about its laws, they aren’t wrong sometimes. Spitting and smoking in public is prohibited here.
Cuba
This nation is famous for being high on cigars and tourism, the need to worry is felt when we come to know that just like China, Cuba is also a communist country, and a word against the government isn’t tolerated.
Eritrea
In Eritrea, journalism is tightly held in government’s hands and that’s why you better don’t think of being here if you are a journalist or a writer as journalism is brutally caged here.
Iran
Iran is one of the countries that follow Sharia law. Then comes an extremely strict set of rules inside Sharia law. Only certain kinds of hairstyles are permitted for men as prescribed by Islam with even slight deviations from that being prohibited. Specific dress code is framed for women, one of them is wearing a head-gear named hijab. Listening to western music is prohibited.
North Korea
North Korea is famous for its unique set of laws framed by its monarch more than anything else. It seems like a different world inside-out. Tourists may miss privacy as they are assigned personal escorts since their arrival until their departure. As everything is all about dictatorship here, a word against the monarch or his family will directly lead you to death.
Saudi Arabia
Most of the laws in Saudi Arabia are framed keeping in mind that their religious and cultural values are taken care of. Women are targeted the most. Women have prohibitions for wearing casual clothes. They are denied permission to travel alone and are granted when they are accompanied by a relative and that too it’s mandatory that it should be a man. Even driving was prohibited for women for a long time.
