One year has gone by since the first case of COVID-19 was noticed in India. In one year, it crossed 1 crore 7 lakh from the first case found in Kerala. January 30, 2020: First case of coronavirus reported in Kerala in India. A medical student from the Chinese Province of Wuhan, who returned to Thrissur Kerala on January 30, tested positive for Coronavirus.

February 2, 3, 2020: Within the next three to four days, on February 2 and 3, the second and third coronavirus cases were reported in India; these two people also returned from Wuhan.

March 2, 2020: With the total case of 5 reported, the first case found in Delhi-NCR outside Kerala in India, who had returned from Italy.

March 3, 2020: To stop the spreading of the coronavirus, India suspended the visas of foreign nationals who had traveled to China, Iran, Italy, South Korea, and Japan from entering India.

March 4, 2020: More than 22 cases are recorded in India, among which 14 Italian tourists got infected by the Coronavirus.

March 12, 2020: A 76-year man from Kalaburagi in Karnataka is the first victim of Coronavirus in India who had a Saudi Arabian travel history.

March 14, 2020: Coronavirus was declared a “notified disaster” as the cases increased continuously.

March 20, 2020: All international flights are canceled as more cases are recorded from people who had returned home from other countries.

March 25, 2020: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a nationwide lockdown to fight against coronavirus. The first phase of lockdown came into effect and the government had also canceled all Domestic flights.

April 2020: In April 2020, the positive cases were increased 23 times as compared to March. According to the graph of NDTV, more than 1463 coronavirus cases were found in the country on April 14, and the death count had increased to 1075 at the end of April.

May 2020: Even lockdown was announced, the number of cases increased continuously and reached an average of 6 to 7 thousand cases daily. On May 5, the first time, more than 194 coronavirus death cases were reported. Positive cases were crossed 1 lakh on May 19.

Millions of migrant laborers within the nations are struggled to return home, walking tirelessly with their heavy luggage. Some of them even died in their way by breathless walking.

June 2020: Some relaxation from complete lockdown was announced that not to affect economic activity. From June 1 to June 30, the COVID-19 cases increased sharply from 8392 to 18522, and death cases also increased from 230 to 418 daily. Indians who returned from abroad faced a lot of economic problems.

July 2020: As the rainy reason has favored the spread of infection, the country’s total cases reached 1 million on July 17, with 2.75 lakh cases in Maharashtra and 11.6 lakh in Delhi. With these numbers, India becomes the third country in the world gets affected by the rapid coronavirus. In July 2020, Bharath Biotech’s started the Phase-1 clinical trials of its vaccine ‘Covaxin.’

August 2020: ‘Covishield,’ the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca with Serum Institute of India, comes for its clinical trial. In August 2020, India reported 19,87,705 COVID-19 positive cases and 28,859 deaths, with an average of 800-900 deaths every day.

September 2020: Daily cases of COVID-19 increased from 70,000 to 1 lakh in September 2020. The highest number of 1290 deaths was recorded on September 16. India’s highest single-day cases of 97,894 were recorded in September.

October 2020: COVID-19 death cases crossed 1 lakh in October 2020.

December 2, 2020: The UK granted the emergency use authorization to Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 mRNA vaccine. It becomes the first country to approve the vaccine for the public.

December 18, 2020: It is found that 50 percent of cases were from only 47 districts, and 50 percent of deaths were from 24 districts of the country.

December 19, 2020: Though there was a decline in the COVID-19 cases, the total cases crossed the 1 crore mark on December 19, 2020.

December 28, 2020: First trial vaccinations started in four states  Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat, and Punjab to test the readiness of vaccinators and assess mechanism.

January 3, 2021: Restricted emergency use authorization for SII’s Covishield and Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin is granted by DCGI.

January 16, 2021: The first phase of COVID-19 vaccination begins in India.

January 30, 2021: On January 30, fresh cases are 13,083, COVID-19 count increases to 1,07,33,131. More than 1,04,09,160 patients have recovered so far. The current status of COVID-19 positive cases is 10.7 million and new cases 13,965.
