Just because the person has smile on his face doesn’t mean he has no problems at all. Celebrities are like ordinary people, who also have their problems and weaknesses. Around 20-30% of the population suffers from a neurotic problem, but not all cases require psychiatric treatment.

Most of the people understand neurosis as irritability and aggressiveness but for psychiatrists it is more unconscious mental conflicts that a person cannot control. Another issue is depression, a state of persistent sadness that hinders the normal functioning of man. Sometimes it is considered an excuse, which is explained by laziness, but in fact, it is a very serious illness.

You can be successful, have a fortunate family and a luxurious life. But that does not mean you do not suffer. You probably won’t believe that these 8 Bollywood celebrities suffered from neurosis and mental illness.

1. Deepika Padukone

The actress has struggled with depression and was very unhappy for a long time. She managed to overcome the illness with the help of her parents. Being stronger, she runs the foundation to help others.

Here's what she had to say, "I thought it was stress, so I tried to distract myself by focusing on work, and surrounding myself with people, which helped for a while. But the nagging feeling didn't go away. My breath was shallow, I suffered from lack of concentration and I broke down often."

 

2. Ranveer Singh

A few years ago, the actor's friend had taken his own life. The mourning and the gloom made Ranveer so depressed that he had to seek help from the therapist. Today he tries to be a support for his woman, but he is also struggling every day.

 

3. Anushka Sharma

A brave actress suffers from anxiety attacks. She shares all about anxiety and also how to face it. She wants to add faith and strength to others with similar problems so that the matter wouldn't stay unspoken.

"I have anxiety. And I'm treating my anxiety. I'm on medication for my anxiety. Why am I saying this? Because it's a completely normal thing. It's a biological problem. In my family, there have been cases of depression. More and more people, should talk openly about it. There is nothing shameful about it or something to hide. If you had a constant stomach pain, wouldn't you go to the doctor? It's that simple. I want to make this my mission, to take any shame out of this, to educate people about this."

 

4. Aamir Khan

Aamir khan who is known for accepting challenging characters always shows his courage and dedication to any role he takes up. Recently, the actor confessed that he is suffering from anxiety while filming movies.

 

5. Shah Rukh Khan

A few years ago, just after the shootings movie "My Name is Khan", he suffered from depression. On the set, he was wounded and after surgery, he had long convalescence. Nowadays actor claims that he has already returned to the shape.

"Due to the shoulder injury, and the suffering, I had got into a depression mode, but now I am out of it. I feel happy and boosted with energy."

 

6. Varun Dhawan

He confessed that shooting a dark thriller "Badlapur" had diminished his view on many things and made him fall in depressed. He said that as a young man, he has suffered harder seeing such a thing than older people. He even had to take treatment to get things back to shape again.

"I was depressed. I was not clinically declared depressed, but I was heading there. I was very sad to a certain degree. I don't want to use the term 'depression' loosely, because it's a serious illness. It definitely affected my mental health. I was prescribed, and did see a doctor for it, as well."

 

7. Hrithik Roshan

Fame causes enough anxiety that even actor Hrithik Roshan was depressed. The actor confessed to the illness and made a big case with it because he thinks that it must be said and people should not be afraid to ask for help.

 

8. Karan Johar

The producer and director of movies "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" or "Bombay Talkies" made an appearance on NDTV and was honest about his two-year-long battle with clinical depression. It ended up with having to take medicine.

"There was a phase in my life when I was really depressed. When I went through that phase, I thought I am getting a cardiac arrest. I felt it in the middle of a meeting two and half years ago, after which I left the meeting in between saying I have something urgent to do and rushed to the doctor. He then said I am having an anxiety attack. I went to a psychologist post that. Then I realized that I had some internal issues to deal with, which got built up to such point that it resulted in anxiety. Today I feel a lot more free of it. I feel there are loads of other things to look forward to."

These days, every person is suffering either from anxiety or fear or stress or depression or neurosis due to many reasons. And how you deal with it to come out of it is what really matters.
