It is a season of IPOs. Many companies are bringing their IPOs to raise their capital. Recently, on November 10th, 2021, FSN E-Commerce Ventures, the parent company of beauty startup Nykaa, got listed on the stock exchange. The company is in the cosmetics, retail, and beauty sector. The IPO of Nykaa was oversubscribed almost 82 times. The shares are rising by over 89.2% during pre-open trade itself.

Nykaa’s IPO was a game-changer for its investors and company. It made the company’s owner, CEO of Nykaa, Falguni Nayar, the richest self-made female Indian billionaire. Falguni Nayar’s net worth jumped over INR 56,600 crores. She owns 53.5 percent of the company, founded in 2012. Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif invested in the company, got benefitted from the IPO.

According to the reports, Alia Bhatt had reportedly invested INR 4.95 crore in July last year. However, after the IPO, Alia gained a whopping INR 54 crore. She has reportedly gained over 11 times, the returns on her investments.

Katrina Kaif invested in it after she started KAY beauty on Nykaa. After the brand turned out successful, Katrina Kaif also invested in it by buying stakes. In 2018, she invested INR 2.02 crore. After the IPO, her share in the stakes has increased to INR 22 crore.

In 2010, Amitabh Bachchan gained around the 46-fold return from his investment in the search platform engine JustDial. His shares increased by a whopping 10,200 percent. It was the biggest any celebrity investor has achieved and gained from an IPO to date.

Founder of Nykaa, Falguni Nayar’s net worth is nearly over INR 56,600 crore equivalent to $7.7 billion. As per the Bloomberg report, Falguni Nayar is now among one of the world’s wealthiest. After IPO, she has joined only six other women billionaires in India’s Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Other celebrities like Anushka Sharma, Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra have also invested in startups. Players like Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, and Virat Kohli have also invested in different companies and gained good returns.
