The world’s leading brand valuation consultancy, Brand Finance, came up with the top ten strongest brands and valuable brands of India 2021. Their recent report states that the total value of India’s top 100 brands has increased by 2%. It was USD 162.1 billion in 2020 and has raised to USD 164.9 billion in 2021. The report says that the sectors such as IT, healthcare, edutech, chemicals, utilities, construction, and banking have been efficient during this period. The list is based on a Brand Strength Index score. Jio is the strongest brand in India, with a Brand Strength Index score of 91.7 out of 100. Taj Group Of Hotels, Maruti Suzuki, HDFC Bank, and Britannia are other brands in the top 5 with a score of 89.3, 88.2, 87.3, and 85.6, respectively.
Other names in the Top 10 Strongest brands include Amul, LIC, Kotak, SBI, and Airtel, with a score of 85.4, 84.1, 83.5, 83.2, and 83.0, respectively. Ajimon Francis, Managing Director of Brand Finance India, said,
“Despite being one of the worst-hit nations throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Indian brands have shown remarkable resilience to the challenges that have ensued since the first lockdown in March 2020. Over the past year, the nation’s top 100 most valuable brands have recorded a 2% uplift in total brand value, showcasing their strength. Yet the current national health emergency presents an even greater challenge than last year’s lockdown. In these trying times for all of India, brands will need to play their part in supporting recovery.”
10 Valuable Brands Of India 2021
Talking about the most valuable brand, it is Tata Group. Tata Group is India’s most valuable brand, with a brand value of USD 21.3 billion. Tata Group records a rise of 6.4% in valuation, with operations managing around 30 companies under the TATA Group. LIC, Infosys, and Reliance Industries are in second, third, and fourth, respectively. HDFC Bank ranks at number 5th in the most valuable brands in India. However, HDFC Bank is India’s most valuable banking brand with USD 6.6 billion. Owing to the amalgamation of Andhra Bank and Corporation Bank, the Union Bank of India saw the fastest year-on-year brand value increase. It grew by almost 163% to USD 1.2 billion.
IT Services is the third most valuable sector in India. Infosys is the highest-ranked standalone IT services brand and is in the third position in the list. HCL and Tech Mahindra are the other IT Services brands that are in the top 10 with the rank of 8th and 9th, respectively. Airtel is in 6th position as the most valued brand in the telecom industry. Jio is in 10th position.
Brand value is the net economic profit and benefit that a brand owner will achieve by licensing their brand in the open market. The coronavirus pandemic has affected everyone in the world for the last 1.5 years. In this condition, the growth of these brands in the Indian economy is praiseworthy.
