Zozibini Tunzi from South Africa has been crowned Miss Universe 2019. She won the beauty pageant by beating more than 90 contestants from several countries of the world. The beauty pageant was held at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, the United States on December 8, Sunday. The event was hosted by famous American comic turned TV personality Steve Harvey.

Indian model Vartika Singh who was appointed as Miss Universe India 2019 was in Top 20 in the world’s biggest beauty pageant.

The fight for the title was between Zozibini Tunzi from South Africa, Miss Universe Puerto Rico Madison Anderson, and Miss Universe Mexico Sofía Aragón. The top two were Zozibini Tunzi and Madison Anderson. Zozibini Tunzi, a 26-year old from Tsolo, South Africa has declared the winner.  Madison Anderson from Puerto Rico is the first runner-up and Sofía Aragón from Mexico became the second runner-up.

As per the CNN reports, when it was asked from Zozibini Tunzi why she is the right choice for this world’s biggest beauty pageant Miss Universe, she told

“I grew up in a world where a woman who looks like me — with my kind of skin and my kind of hair — was never considered to be beautiful. I think it is time that that stops today. I want children to look at me and see my face and I want them to see their faces reflected in mine.”

The top five finalists were from Mexico, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Colombia, and Thailand. The final question which gave Zozibini Tunzi the crown was What is the most important thing you should be teaching young girls today? In the last three years, South Africa bagged two Miss Universe title. Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters being declared the winner in 2017 and now Zozibini Tunzi in 2019. Overall third title for South Africa. The first was Margaret Gardiner in 1978. In 2018, Tamaryn Green from South Africa was the first runner-up.
