Experiencing pollution free environment is the dream of everyone and to make it happen, Piyush Goyal, Minister of State with Independent Charge for Power, Coal, New and Renewable Energy Came up with a new vision for the welfare of the country.

Yes, no more petrol or diesel cars on the Indian roads. Not even one.

By using electric cars, we can reduce the generation of harmful greenhouse gas emissions. By travelling via electric cars, air pollution can be reduced to a greater extent and so Indian government is very serious about this.

"We are going to introduce electric vehicles in a very big way. We are going to make electric vehicles self- sufficient like UJALA. The idea is that by 2030, not a single petrol or diesel car should be sold in the country," Piyush Goyal said while addressing the CII Annual Session 2017.

He further said that they are working on a policy for promotion of electric vehicles and people buy an electric vehicle when they find it cost effective.

Electric CarsRef:

India's energy consumption has grown by about 6.5 per cent CAGR (compounded annual growth rate), more than the figure for the last 10 years.

He said, "Through UJALA, the LED distribution programme, we have already seen about 500 million LED bulbs sold in the last two years. My job is to improve India's energy efficiency to reduce consumption wherever it is wasteful and ensure that demand is met fully."

Really, a great vision! If this comes to real, we can save our environment and that day can be celebrated as the "Earth Day". What do you say?
