The average life span of the Spanish people is 82.2. On the other hand, the average life span in India is 67.4. The Mediterranean diet is considered as the main factor behind this huge difference. The Spanish people consume carbohydrates but they avoid fats. Apart from that, it is the government that is so concerned about the health of the public. They spend Rs 650 daily on the health of every citizen, while this amount is just Rs 4.5 in India. Because of that, India landed on the 120th position in the list of world’s healthiest countries that includes 169 in total. According to a survey, around 50% of the Indians consume unbalanced diet and most of them are women. No doubt, India is among the top unhealthiest countries in the world.

This diet cuts down the frequency of getting breast cancer, brain stroke, and heart attack. The Indian diet does not contain the seafood and it is not possible for every Indian to consume Mediterranean diet but pulses are the best source of protein and hence a good replacement for the seafood.
