Bittu Tabahi’s cleanliness campaign has now moved beyond Madhya Pradesh. After gaining attention for his efforts to clean the Ajnar River and later joining the Yamuna cleanup in Delhi, Surendra Singh Choudhary, popularly known as Bittu Tabahi, has taken his #CleanWithBittu mission to the National Capital Region.
The latest stop was Gurugram, where Bittu and his team removed 2,435 kg of waste from a heavily littered stretch near Khedki Daula. Local residents also joined the cleanup drive and helped the team clear the area.
Bittu Tabahi Takes Cleanup Mission To Gurugram
The three-day cleanup campaign began in Delhi on September 20. Bittu and his team worked along the Yamuna and collected around 585 kg of waste. The campaign then moved to Gurugram the following day. The team reached the Khedki Daula area, where large amounts of plastic and other discarded waste had accumulated.
According to Bittu’s social media post, the Gurugram drive resulted in 2,435 kg of waste being removed. A video shared by Bittu shows him arriving at the location with his team before getting straight to work. The area was visibly covered with discarded plastic and other waste. Several local residents also joined the effort. Their participation helped the team clear the heavily littered stretch.
Bittu Highlights Risk To Stray Animals
While documenting the cleanup, Bittu also highlighted the problem faced by stray cattle in areas filled with plastic waste. Discarded plastic can be particularly dangerous for animals that search through garbage for food. Cattle can accidentally consume plastic along with food waste, creating serious health risks.
The Gurugram cleanup therefore focused not only on making the area cleaner but also on removing waste that could pose a danger to animals living around the location. The scale of the collection also showed how much waste can accumulate in public spaces when it is left unattended.
Campaign Moves From Delhi To Noida
After Delhi and Gurugram, the next stop for Bittu’s NCR campaign was Noida. He announced a cleanup drive at Yuva Shakti Ghat in Sector 94, with the activity scheduled to begin at 6 am. Bittu also invited members of the public to join him in cleaning the Yamuna riverfront.
The Noida drive marks another step in his effort to take the cleanup campaign beyond his home state. His recent activities across Delhi-NCR come after months of work in Madhya Pradesh, where his efforts first brought him widespread attention.
How Bittu Tabahi’s Cleanup Journey Began
Bittu’s cleanup campaign began in his hometown of Biaora in Madhya Pradesh’s Rajgarh district. He was disturbed by the amount of plastic, algae, sludge and other waste accumulating around the Ajnar River near a local temple. Instead of waiting for someone else to take action, he decided to start cleaning the area himself.
The campaign began on January 26, 2026, with the initial effort involving a few friends. It later became largely a solo mission. Bittu manually removed large quantities of waste from the river using basic equipment. His work also came with physical challenges. He has spoken about infections, severe skin irritation and encounters with snakes while working in and around the water. He also funded much of the early cleanup work through his own savings, spending money on equipment and other supplies.
From Ajnar River To The National Capital Region
Bittu’s work on the Ajnar River eventually attracted attention well beyond Biaora. His efforts were shared widely on social media and brought him recognition outside Madhya Pradesh. His work also caught the attention of Boyan Slat, founder and CEO of Dutch environmental organisation The Ocean Cleanup, who reportedly invited Bittu to work with the organisation.
Bittu later connected with The Ocean Cleanup as his campaign continued to grow. His move into Delhi, Gurugram and Noida now represents another stage of the campaign. Instead of limiting the effort to one river or one city, Bittu is taking the message to different parts of the NCR and encouraging local communities to participate.
