Since April 2023, the Noida Regional Transport Department has wielded its authority by suspending 248 driver’s licenses. This action is a direct response to the Supreme Court-appointed road safety committee’s recommendations. The committee advocates license cancellation for offenses such as speeding, traffic signal violations, overloading, and drunk driving.

CM Adityanath’s Directives Echo Loudly

The impetus for this crackdown stems from CM Adityanath’s instructions during the December 2 meeting. He emphasized decisive action against repeat offenders. The transport department has been entrusted with suspending or canceling licenses and vehicle registrations for those found guilty of persistent traffic violations.

The Numbers Behind The Noida Crackdown

According to data shared by the Noida Traffic Police, a staggering 219,606 vehicles repeatedly violated traffic rules in the district. Among these, 96,890 vehicles are registered with the Gautam Budh Nagar Transport Department. Notably, 12,482 vehicles committed violations more than ten times, with 1,042 crossing the threshold of 30 violations.

Penalties Imposed

From January 1, 2023, to November 15, the Noida Traffic Police took stringent action against traffic violators. A total of 107,167 vehicles faced penalties for speeding, 101,5693 for jumping traffic signals, 14,000 for using mobile phones while driving, and 1,255 for drunk driving. This comprehensive approach showcases the commitment to curb diverse traffic offenses.

Sharing Data With Gautam Budh Nagar RTO

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Noida Traffic) Anil Kumar revealed that the traffic police have proactively shared the data with the Gautam Budh Nagar Regional Transport Office (RTO). This collaboration is vital, given that many identified traffic violators hail from the Gautam Budh Nagar area.

Navigating Compliance For Safer Noida Roads

As Noida gears up for this stringent crackdown, vehicle owners must act swiftly to rectify any compliance issues. The proactive approach by the authorities aligns with the broader goal of creating safer roads and fostering a culture of adherence to traffic rules.

The impending action against 2.2 lakh vehicles in Noida serves as a wake-up call for all drivers. Adhering to traffic rules is not just a legal obligation but a collective responsibility to ensure the safety and orderliness of our roads. Stay compliant, stay safe, and let’s make Noida’s roads better together!
