On Wednesday, Tata-owned Air India declared that it is introducing “Fog Care” at the Delhi Airport to lessen the effects of fog-related delays on travelers. This is a component of the FogCare program that was launched last winter. If there will be significant delays due to fog, the airline will permit passengers to reschedule or cancel their flights at no additional cost.

According to an Air India statement, “With the winter months upon us, disruption to flights due to the thick fog that descends upon northern India is an unfortunate reality.”

“We are taking preventative measures and assisting you in separating the effects of fog on you and flying operations. You can monitor the status of your flights and, for no additional charge, reschedule or cancel any affected flights. Additionally, it will save you from having to fly to the airport and the trouble of having to wait a long time there,” it stated.

Until March 31, 2024, the passengers could rebook for free on any other Air India flight operating on the same itinerary within the next three days.

Should you need to cancel, you will receive a complete refund within a year of the original trip date. It will only apply to the section of the trip that is impacted by fog, though.

The company further stated that the free offer can only be used once. “Once this offer is availed, any further change or cancellation will be chargeable,” read the notice.

“The FogCare program is an earnest attempt to lessen disruption to visitors whose flights are susceptible to fog. Additionally, it will support the preservation of network schedule integrity, according to Air India Chief Customer Experience Officer Rajesh Dogra.
