What if your next holiday came with free flights, accommodation, delicious food and a chance to find love? Finland is offering singles from around the world an opportunity to experience exactly that. The Nordic country, widely known for topping global happiness rankings, is inviting 16 international participants for a unique dating experience that combines food, travel and social connections.

The campaign, called the Finnish Dinner Date, has been launched by Visit Finland. Scheduled for February 9 to 19, 2027, the experience will bring international singles together with Finnish participants over specially curated meals. The best part? Selected participants will have their flights, accommodation, meals and activities covered.

What Is Finland’s Finnish Dinner Date Campaign?

The Finnish Dinner Date campaign aims to introduce visitors to the country’s food culture while creating opportunities for people to connect. Participants will explore local cuisine and attend special group dinner dates in Helsinki and Tampere, located in Finland’s Lakeland region. Food will be at the heart of the experience. The menus will feature regional ingredients such as wild fish, berries and foraged mushrooms. Some of Finland’s leading chefs are helping develop the menus for the event.

Heli Jimenez, Senior Director of International Marketing at Business Finland, explained the idea behind the initiative in an official statement. “Finnish food is a direct expression of our famously happy way of life: a way of connecting to place, to season, and to the people around you,” she said.

“Food brings Finns together, and now we are inviting travellers to join us in a truly one-of-a-kind way.” The organisers hope participants will discover more than just a new cuisine. They will also get an opportunity to meet people, experience Finnish culture and explore the country during the winter season.

The Unusual Dating Trend That Inspired The Campaign

The idea draws inspiration from a Finnish dating trend known as sinkkukori, which translates to “single basket”. Several supermarket chains in Finland have introduced pink shopping baskets that allow single shoppers to subtly signal that they are open to conversation and potentially dating. The idea makes an ordinary grocery shopping trip an opportunity to meet someone new.

Visit Finland is now bringing a similar spirit of openness to the dining table. The tourism board also wants to introduce international visitors to Finnish cuisine, which it believes deserves more global attention.

“From sauna food traditions to foraging, Finnish cuisine tells a story that exists nowhere else. We want visitors to experience that story in full,” Jimenez said. She added, “Coming to the world’s happiest country, they may find love – with each other, with Finnish food or with their new favourite travel destination.”

Of course, finding a romantic connection is not guaranteed. But participants can look forward to a hosted travel experience, local food and the opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds.

The campaign is open to single adults aged 18 and above from anywhere in the world, provided they are not residents of Finland. Applications must be submitted individually. The application deadline is November 10, 2026, at 11:59 AM Finnish time (EET, UTC+2). Visit Finland plans to announce the selected participants on December 1, 2026, through its Instagram and TikTok channels.

Those selected will receive a hosted experience covering flights, accommodation, meals and activities. The dinner dates will take place as relaxed group events, with participants dining together and enjoying one of Finland’s official tasting menus. The trip is scheduled to run between February 9 and February 19, 2027.

How To Apply For The Finnish Dinner Date

Applying involves creating a short video in English. Applicants must answer the question: “What would you serve on a dinner date, and why?” The video must then be posted on a public social media account, such as Instagram, TikTok or YouTube. Applicants need to use the hashtag #FinnishDinnerDate and tag Visit Finland in their post. Since the deadline is November 10, interested applicants should check the official Visit Finland campaign details for the complete requirements before submitting their entries.

Conclusion

Finland’s Finnish Dinner Date campaign offers a different way to experience the country. Instead of a conventional sightseeing holiday, selected participants will get to explore Finnish food, meet local singles and share meals with people from around the world.

Whether the trip leads to romance, new friendships or simply a memorable winter getaway, the concept gives solo travellers an unusual reason to consider Finland for their next adventure.
