UIDAI Launches e-Aadhaar App: Now You Can Update Your Name, Address, And More From Your Phone

UIDAI’s All-New e-Aadhaar App Lets You Update, Share, and Secure Your Identity Instantly From Your Phone — Say Goodbye to Queues and Paper Copies!

Are you tired of waiting in line to update your Aadhaar? Now you just need to tap your phone a couple of times! Changing your name, address, photo, and other details from your phone has never been simpler, thanks to the most recent e-Aadhaar app.

By the end of 2025, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) will begin rolling out a statewide e-Aadhaar system that is enabled by QR codes. Aadhaar holders will no longer need to carry or submit hard copies of their Aadhaar cards for authentication, thanks to the system, which will enable them to digitally confirm their identities.

Why Aadhaar Is Needed?

For Indian citizens, the 12-digit Aadhaar personal identification number also acts as confirmation of address and identity. Important information such as the cardholder’s name, residence, gender, and age is contained in the document.

Holders of Aadhaar cards must also provide their biometric information, such as their fingerprints or iris. Anyone who lives in India and meets the requirements of the UIDAI’s verification process can apply for Aadhaar, irrespective of age or gender.

New E-Aadhaar App: Now Share Your ID Securely

According to UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar, a new mobile app has been created that offers users a variety of digital services associated with their Aadhaar cards. The most unique feature of this app is that it removes the need for a photocopy of your Aadhaar card. You can use a QR code to share your full Aadhaar or your masked Aadhaar, which has hidden numbers, if you would like.

Nobody will be able to access your Aadhaar data without your permission, thanks to this system’s extreme security. According to UIDAI, this new technology should stop fraudulent actions involving Aadhaar and offer the public the greatest amount of convenience.

Update Aadhaar From Your Home

According to UIDAI, this feature will be implemented nationwide using over one lakh computers. Additionally, the new tool has been installed in about 2000 of these devices. Only biometric information, such as fingerprint and eye scans will now require you to visit the center; all other changes can be completed from home.

The QR Code Will Be Used To Share Aadhaar

UIDAI will be concentrating on improving digital security this time. With the help of a QR code, the new software will enable users to move their Aadhaar between mobile devices or between apps. Therefore, a real card is not required when checking in at a hotel or while proving your identity on a train — simply scan the QR code from the app and provide the details.

The main benefit of this is that you will now have total control over your Aadhaar data. You can decide which information you wish to disclose and which you do not. Additionally, this will raise the level of security and protect your privacy.

Not Documents — The Government Database Will Now Identify You

The report states that UIDAI will now create and update Aadhaar cards using data from several government sources. Databases such as your 10th-grade report, driver’s license, passport, PAN card, PDS, and MNREGA will be searched for information such as your name and birthdate.

This will not only reduce the likelihood that documents would be fraudulent but it will also save people from having to submit documents repeatedly. It will be considerably simpler if a database of electricity bills is included in the access.

The Significance Of These Modifications

This action has two major advantages. Firstly, it reduces fraud — fake documents for Aadhaar registration will be far more difficult to get.

Secondly, it simplifies things. This is particularly true for those who live in rural or semi-urban locations where access to scanning devices and the internet may be limited. Even the addition of electricity bill data is being worked on by UIDAI to facilitate identification verification.
