The actress has recently been linked to a drug-smuggling case. She was apprehended in Sharjah earlier this month after narcotics were discovered disguised in a trophy she was lugging. Her family claimed that the actor was framed. Chrisann has finally been released from jail, according to reports.
“Actor Chrisann Pereira, who was imprisoned in a Sharjah jail in a case of alleged drugs smuggling, has been released from jail, confirms her brother Kevin Pereira, “ANI reported on Thursday. The Mumbai Crime Branch recently detained two people on suspicion of framing the actor for involvement with the purported drug-smuggling case.
On Tuesday, a Mumbai metropolitan magistrate court ordered a baker named Anthony Paul and his associate Rajesh Babhote alias Ravi to police detention till May 2. The two were apprehended on suspicion of duping actress Chrisann Pereira and four other people into becoming drug traffickers.
Chrisann was supposedly sent to Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE), for an audition as part of Anthony Paul’s devious plan. Just before boarding the flight, she was given a trophy loaded with ganja (marijuana). The trophy was explained to her as part of the audition prop. According to police, another victim, Clynton Rodricks, is a DJ who was also brought to Sharjah by Anthony Paul with an opium-laced cake and was apprehended at the airport.
