The Allahabad High Court dismissed student Ayushi Patel’s NEET reconsideration petition, which claimed that her OMR sheet was ripped apart after the National Testing Authority (NTA) showed proof that she fabricated the document and that the original OMR sheet was untouched. The Allahabad High Court further noted that the NTA was now allowed to pursue legal action against Ayushi Patel for false allegations.

Who Is Ayushi Patel?

Following the announcement of the NEET results, Ayushi Patel, a candidate from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, voiced dissatisfaction with the results, alleging she should have received 715 marks in the medical entrance test. In a video claim, Patel said that after the NEET results were published, she tried to check her scores and received an error message stating, “Your result has not been generated.” She believed it was a website failure because over 23 lakh pupils were attempting to see the results at the same time.

The clip she made became part of a bigger discussion about oddities in the administration of the undergraduate medical entrance examination NEET. Patel sought that the NTA personally reevaluate her OMR document. She also requested that the NTA be examined and that admissions counseling be discontinued. In the words of Patel, the NTA gave her a lower score based on another student’s application number because of her torn OMR page. However, when NTA deputy director Sandeep Sharma handed her sheet to the court, it was evident that there were no abnormalities in the paper or its grading.

“The petitioner has submitted forged documents, and in such a situation this court cannot stop NTA from taking legal action against the student,” the court stated.

Ayushi Patel Supported By Congress Leader

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra retweeted Ayushi Patel’s viral video, supporting her claims about anomalies in her test results. She also called on the administration to “give up its careless attitude” and take measures against suspected paper breaches and inefficiencies.

Following the High Court’s dismissal of Ayushi Patel’s appeal, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala criticized Priyanka Gandhi for “peddling fakery” and “amplifying lies”. He urged Gandhi to express regret and demanded action against her.
