During the 61st Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, Ukraine MP Oleksandr Marikovskyi was caught on camera punching an unidentified Russian officer At Global Meet. The video quickly went viral on the internet.
What Happened At Global Meet?
The incident took place in Ankara, Turkey. In the Parliamentary Assembly, countries of the Black Sea region gathered to discuss ways to develop multilateral and bilateral ties on the economic, technological, and social fronts.
In the viral video, the Russian Representative could be seen approaching Marikovskyi, who was holding the Ukraine flag. The Russians forcefully snatched the flag, instigating a fight. Marikovskyi responded by pushing and punching the representative in the face in order to retrieve the flag.
The video was posted on Twitter by Jason Jay Smart, a special correspondent for the Kyiv Post and a political adviser. As of Friday morning, the video had received more than 3 million views. Marikovskyi also posted the video on his Facebook account. In his tweet, he wrote,

Advocate Ibrahim Zeidan also tweeted,
“He really deserved that punch. Delegate from #Russia sparks scuffle at Black Sea Economic Community event in #Ankara, #Turkey, after forcibly taking the flag of #Ukraine from MP Marikovskyi’s hands.”
This incident highlights the never-ending tension between the two countries, Ukraine and Russia. After 14 months after Russia’s attack on Ukraine, the conflict has not stopped. The situation has been further complicated by the involvement of other countries, including the United States and the European Union. They have imposed economic sanctions on Russia and provided military aid to Ukraine.
Russia Blames USA For Kremlin Drone Attack
The tension between Russia and Ukraine increased when Ukraine tried to assassinate President Putin with a drone attack on the Kremlin. However, Ukraine denied the accusation.
Furthermore, Russia now claims the USA is the mastermind behind the drone attack. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, “Decisions on such attacks are not made in Kyiv but in Washington.”
