Watch: Rishabh Pant Loses Cool To Harsha Bhogle’s White Ball Form Question, ‘Comparison Karna Mere Life Ka Part Nahi’

Rishabh Pant is recently going from a rough patch in white ball cricket. Last month in T20 World Cup, he just played two matches and performed below par. In a recently concluded New Zealand tour, there is no knock to be remembered from Rishabh Pant, as he failed in both T20Is and ODIs. Rishabh Pant is facing serious backlash on social media owing to his poor form and still getting opportunities ahead of in-form Sanju Samson. However, the team management is backing the southpaw because of his ability to change the complexion of the game quickly. In an interview with Harsha Bhogle, Rishabh Pant was seen getting irked by Virender Sehwag’s linked question.

Virender Sehwag and Rishabh Pant are mostly similar kinds of batters. They like to go after the bowlers right from the ball one. Rishabh Pant has hundreds in Australia, England, and South Africa. The only Indian wicketkeeper batter who has achieved this feat. However, his recent form in white ball cricket is a concern.

Rishabh Pant Gets Irritated With The Question

Harsha Bhogle questioned Rishabh Pant about his contrasting white and red ball records in the pre-match show on Prime Video. He gets irritated on listening to the question and gives a weird reply. Harsha Bhogle asked him,

“Maine Viru se bohut saal pahle ye sawal poocha tha, ab apse puch raha hu. Aapko dekhke lagta hai, white-ball game inki khaas baat hogi but aapka Test record sabse accha hai. (I had asked the same question to Sehwag, now I’ll ask you. Looking at you, we get the feeling that white-ball cricket is your USP but it’s your Test record that is better…)

To this, Rishabh Pant replies,

“Sir, record toh ek number hai. Mera white-ball record bhi kharab nahi hai. Thik hai T20 ka… (Sir, records are just numbers. My white-ball record is not bad either…)”

Harsha Bhogle interrupted Rishabh and said he was comparing the Test numbers. He said,

“Main kharab nahi kar raha hu, comparison kar raha hu. (I’m not saying it’s bad, I’m comparing it with the Test numbers)”

Rishabh Pant got irritated on listening to the question and gave a weird reply. He answers,

“Comparison karna toh sir apne life ka part hi nahi hai na. Abhi main 24-25 years ka hu, comparison karna hai toh jab main 30-32 ka ho jayunga tab karna, usse pahle toh koi logic nahi hai mere liye. (Doing comparisons is not a part of my life. I’m 24-25, if you want to compare, you can do that when I am 30-32).”

In July 2022, Rishabh Pant scored an unbeaten 125 against England at a final ODI to secure a win for Team India. What do you guys think about Rishabh Pant’s current form? Do you believe Sanju Samson should be given opportunities ahead of him? Let us know in the comments below.
