PM Modi’s dream of swachh bharath is taking a new shape. As part of the national sanitation survey, Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu announced Swachh Survekshan 2017 rankings on Thursday.

According to the Swachh ratings, Indore and Bhopal tops in the list of cleanest cities of India where as the cities from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar tops in the list of dirtiest cities of India.

While announcing the rankings of 434 cities and towns, Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu said, “Most cities from Gujarat and Chhattisgarh have improved their positions in the cleanliness rankings.”

The Swachh Survekshan 2017 was launched on January 4 by Urban Development Ministry and the initial deadline was given to the citizens to submit their submissions by February 13. However, it was extended to February 28.  In the survey conducted by the Quality Council of India around 37 lakh citizens submitted their responses.

Venkaiah Naidu expressed his concerns over condition of Uttar Pradesh where Yogi Adityanath’s government took charge in March. Not even one city or town from Uttar Pradesh has managed to enter even the top 30 rankings.

UP has 25 cities at the bottom of the list with Gonda been the dirtiest in the country.
