Shane Watson Batted With Injured Knee At IPL Final Earns Respect And Won Hearts

The final of IPL 2019 was turned out to be one of the most see-saw battles of IPL 2019, in which Mumbai Indians defeated Chennai Super Kings by one run. This win made Mumbai Indians the most successful IPL franchise with four titles.

Chennai Super Kings were inconsistent in their batting throughout the tournament as their openers failed to provide the good start in most of the season. Most of the time they were totally depended on MS Dhoni. However, Chennai Super Kings kept faith in their players and this faith has almost pulled off the win at the final. Shane Watson and Faf Du Plessis played the gem of a knock in the Qualifier 2 to steer their team to the final against Mumbai Indians.

Shane Watson who struck the century in the last year IPL final 2018, repaid the faith of the franchise and again came with the same intention in this year final as he scored 80 runs in 59 balls including eight fours and four sixes. However this time he came short by just one run.

But what made this inning of Shane Watson more impressive and special is that he played almost half of the innings in pain. Harbhajan Singh off-spinner of Chennai Super Kings revealed that he was playing with a bloodied injured left knee. Watson batted throughout the innings without telling anyone about his injury to make his team win the final.
