What happens if people in positions of power begin to use unjust measures to govern a country? Will such a nation ever exist? People in positions of authority, particularly those who promise to manage a nation and are accountable for a country and its residents, should constantly be faithful to their responsibility and do their duties wholeheartedly to maintain harmony and tranquility, but this is not always the case. Recently, an officer Sameer Wankhede who arrested Aryan Khan, ignored CBI interrogation in a bribery case.

Former NCB officer Sameer Wankhede failed to show up for interrogation before the CBI on Thursday regarding his involvement with an alleged 25-crore bribe demand from celebrity Shah Rukh Khan, according to authorities.

Sameer Wankhede and others allegedly sought the cash in order to keep his son Aryan Khan out of the 2021 Cordelia cruise ship narcotics raid case. However, due to a lack of evidence, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) did not identify Aryan Khan in its charge sheet in the case.

Sameer Wankhede Did Not Show Up Before The Agency

According to reports, Sameer Wankhede accepted to come before the agency on Thursday after an FIR was filed against him and four others for reportedly seeking a bribe from Shah Rukh Khan based on an NCB inquiry forwarded to it by the home ministry.

They stated that Sameer Wankhede failed to appear for interrogation on Thursday and that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will decide on the next steps.

According to officials, a special investigation team (SET) of the NCB identified various failures and anomalies in the operation of the cruise liner, which was carried out under the “monitoring” of Sameer Wankhede.

The NCB said that K P Gosavi and his assistant Prabhakar Sail, who is now deceased, were appointed as independent witnesses in the cruise ship raid on October 2, 2021, on Sameer Wankhede’s orders.

According to the FIR, K P Gosavi, his assistant, Sanvile D’Souza, and others conspired to “extort 25 crores” from Aryan’s family members by “threatening them with the allegation of offenses of possession of narcotics substances.”

K P Gosavi and Sanvile D’Souza bargained the sum to reduce it down to 18 crores and even received a gesture of 50 lakhs and returned a portion of the cash afterward, it added.

SET’s Findings

Aryan Khan was released on bail by the Bombay High Court on October 28 after spending 25 days in jail after being formally detained by the NCB on October 3, 2021, following the raid on the cruise ship the day before. However, due to a lack of proof, his name was not put on the list of accused in the NCB charge sheet.

According to the SET’s findings, which are now part of the FIR, Aryan Khan and other suspects were driven to the NCB office in K P Gosavi’s personal vehicle on October 2, 2021.

According to the FIR, Sameer Wankhede, as the immediate supervisory officer, instructed that K P Gosavi and Prabhakar Sail be called independent witnesses in the hearings against the defendants in the drug bust case.

He had instructed then NCB superintendent V V Singh to enable K P Gosavi to “handle the accused” while transporting him to the NCB office, so “allowing a freehand” to him and others to give a sense that K P Gosavi had custody of the accused, according to the complaint.

The FIR

“It appeared that the presence of the independent witness Gosavi around accused persons was created intentionally in such a manner to give an impression that Gosavi was an NCB personnel even though there was NCB personnel to handle the custody of the accused persons,” the FIR stated.

K P Gosavi was permitted to be present in the company of the accused, to come to the NCB office after the raid, and to take photos and record an audio note of an accused, according to the report. According to authorities, this position “allowed” K P Gosavi and Sanvile D’Souza to join the “conspiracy” with others to seek money from Shah Rukh Khan reportedly.
