Stadium 974 is a football stadium in Ras Abu Aboud, Doha, Qatar. It is a temporary venue of 974 recyclable shipping containers and was open for use on November 30, 2021. Furthermore, this stadium will host several matches during the FIFA World Cup in 2022. Additionally, it is the first transportable venue in FIFA World Cup history. The stadium’s idea was by Fenwick Iribarren Architects. The stadium stands on a waterfront site measuring 450,000 square meters. It features a modular design and is present on an artificial promontory. As a further homage to the area’s industrial past and the international dialing code for Qatar, +974, it includes 974 recycled shipping containers.

Facilities for the stadium, such as restrooms and concession stands, are also in some containers. 2017 saw the start of the stadium conversion procurement procedure. Ras Abu Aboud Stadium was the name of the stadium when it was first announced. However, at a launch event on November 20, 2021, the location’s name was changed to Stadium 974. Additionally, it hosted its inaugural game on November 30, 2021, the first day of the FIFA Arab Cup. Syria and the United Arab Emirates played in the game. In addition, the stadium hosted five games throughout the tournament.

It is under planning to be in use in Maldonado, Uruguay. If the nation’s proposal to host the World Cup is successful, it will be in use to host the event in 2030. The stadium, which can hold 40,000 people, is the first entirely de-mountable football venue. After the World Cup is over, it will be a task to dismantle it, transport it, and then put it back together for operation. Fans at Stadium 974 will experience the cool breeze that blows in from the Arabian Gulf because it is located in the portside area.

Air conditioning is not necessary because of the stadium’s natural ventilation that it provides. On November 22 and November 24, the stadium will host Mexico vs. Poland and Portugal vs. Ghana, respectively. Additionally, it will host one of the pre-tournament favorites, Brazil vs. Switzerland, on November 28, as well as the match France vs. Denmark on November 26. When arriving in Qatar for the tournament, football fans will first see Stadium 974. It is because of how close it is to Hamad International Airport.

The most beautiful stadium in the world will undoubtedly be this one. A team of top engineers and architects built it. Stadium 974 serves as a visual representation of Qatar’s commitment to cost-effective sustainability and innovative design.
