Who Is Parag Agrawal

Parag Agrawal is a Computer Science and Engineering graduate from IIT Bombay. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University. He is an Indian American technology executive. Parag will be the new CEO of Twitter as Jack Dorsey stepped down. The new CEO also joined the list of Indian-origin personalities such as Satya Nadella, Sundar Pichai are leading global businesses. Agrawal also joined the company in 2011, served as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) since October 2017.

In December 2019, Dorsey had also put Agrawal in charge of Project Bluesky, the firm’s decentralized social networking efforts until it found a leader.

 

Benefits Of Twitter And India

The company is hoping for new innovations as Parag is a techie. Kal Patel, a former partner at Vantage Point Venture Partners, said during a Twitter Spaces session that having an Indian origin CEO could also have an impact on the relationship the company has with the Indian government. It would also be interesting to see the changes the new CEO could bring on moderation on the platform.

 

Parag Agrawal Salary As Twitter CEO

Parag Agrawal, the new Twitter chief executive officer will receive an annual salary of $1 million-plus bonuses, the company said in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Parag Agrawal will also receive restricted stock units (RSUs) valued at $12.5 million that will vest in 16 equal quarterly increments, starting February 1, 2022. He will also get performance-based restricted stocks units in April 2022. Twitter also noted that Parag had also received RSUs and PSUs earlier this year, but no further detail is disclosed.

Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, who stepped down as CEO had declined all compensation and benefits since 2015 other than an annual salary of $1.40 since 2018.

In a letter addressing employees, Parag Agrawal said “I see Twitter’s incredible impact, our continued progress, and the exciting opportunities ahead of us. Our purpose has never been more important. Our culture and our people are unlike anything in the world. There is no limit to what we can do together.”

He also added, “We recently updated our strategy to hit ambitious goals, and I believe that strategy to be bold and right.  But our critical challenge is how we work to execute against it and deliver results that’s how we’ll make Twitter the best it can be for our customers, shareholders, and for each of you.”
