Your travel experience is about to get a massive upgrade. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has just announced a revolutionary FASTag annual pass that promises to change how Indians travel on the highway forever.

This is not just another government scheme; it is a complete transformation of how we pay tolls and travel across the country. For just ₹3000, you can now enjoy unlimited highway access for an entire year or 200 trips, whichever comes first. Imagine the convenience and savings this brings to frequent travellers, families planning road trips, and anyone who regularly uses national highways.

The FASTag annual pass is a prepaid solution that allows private vehicle owners to travel seamlessly across all national highways in India. Think of it as your all-access pass to the country’s highway network, similar to how a gym membership works for roads.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced this on his official X, making it very clear that this is designed to address long-standing issues faced by highway travellers.

Benefits FASTag Annual Pass

At ₹3000, this annual pass offers incredible value for money. Imagine if you typically spend ₹100 to ₹200 per trip on tolls, you will break even after just 15 to 30 trips. For families who take regular road trips or professionals who travel frequently, this represents a massive saving.

Flexible Validity Period

The pass offers a dual validity option:

  • Time-based: Valid for one full year from the activation date
  • Usage-based: Valid for up to 200 trips

This flexibility ensures you get maximum value, regardless of your travel frequency.

Vehicle Coverage

The pass is exclusively designed for non-commercial, private vehicles, including:

  • Cars
  • Jeeps
  • Vans

This particular focus on private vehicles ensures that the system remains efficient and serves its end purpose of improving personal travel experiences.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s Official Statement

In his official statement, he stated,

“In a transformative step towards hassle-free highway travel, we are introducing the FASTag annual pass priced at ₹3000, effective from 15th August 2025. Valid for one year from the date of activation or up to 200 trips, whichever comes first. The pass is designed exclusively for non-commercial private vehicles, such as cars, jeeps, and vans.”

He further said,

“The annual pass will enable seamless and cost-effective travel across national highways throughout the country. A dedicated link for activation and renewal will soon be made available on the RajMarg Yatra app as well as on the official websites of NHAI and MoRTH.”

How Does This Solve Major Highway Problems?

Our Union Minister made it clear that, “This policy addresses long-standing concerns regarding toll plazas located within a 60 km range and simplifies toll payments to a single, affordable transaction.”

This annual pass will help those who frequently encounter multiple toll plazas within a short distance, leading to frustration and an increase in travel costs.
