She was a part of the launch of DS-SAR, a remote sensing satellite, on board the PSLV C56 rocket on July 30 and the July 14 launch of the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft on the LVM3 rocket. How Did N Valarmathi Die?
Allegedly, the scientist passed away from a heart attack. Various ISRO officials confirmed the scientist’s death through different social media posts. An official said, “The PSLV 56 mission was probably the last time she counted down a launch at Sriharikota. These countdowns need technically qualified scientists.”
Moreover, Union minister Rajeev Chandrashekhar posted on X. He penned, “Saddened to hear about the passing of N Valarmathi ji, the voice behind many ISRO launch countdowns, including Chandrayaan-3.”
Furthermore, former ISRO scientist and director P V Venkitakrishnan said on social media, “The voice of Valarmathi Madam will not be there for future missions of ISRO from Sriharikota. Chandrayaan-3 was her final countdown announcement—an unexpected demise. Feel so sad. Pranams!”
Why Was N Valarmathi Well Known?
Valarmathi was the voice behind various launches of the Indian Space Research Organization. She had been responsible for the countdowns for numerous launches by the space agency at Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota.
Moreover, she was also a part of the launch of the DS-SAR, remote sensing, satellite on board the PSLV C56 rocket on July 30 and the July 14 launch. Furthermore, N Valarmathi received the Tamil Nadu government’s Abdul Kalam award in 2015. She received the award shortly after her role as a director in the RISAT-1 project.
