The investigation into the death of Ketan Agarwal at Lohagad Fort has revealed several details about what police allege was a planned conspiracy. According to the chargesheet filed by Pune Rural Police, the accused had initially considered taking Ketan to Bengaluru and breaking his limbs before the plan changed to killing him.
The chargesheet, reported as running to 5,053 pages, names Ketan Agarwal’s fiancée Siya Goyal, her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary and Ritesh Hange as accused. Police allege that the three were involved in planning Ketan’s murder, which took place at Lohagad Fort on June 18, 2026.
Initial Plan Was To Break Ketan Agarwal’s Limbs
According to the police investigation cited in the chargesheet, the first plan was not to kill Ketan Agarwal immediately. The accused allegedly discussed seriously injuring him by breaking his hands and legs. The intention, according to police, was linked to delaying his upcoming marriage with Siya.
Ritesh Hange, who was arrested later as the third accused, allegedly discussed the plan with a friend in Bengaluru. However, the friend reportedly opposed the idea and refused to assist. The friend’s statement was subsequently recorded by police and included in the investigation.
Police had earlier said Hange was aware of the plan to injure Ketan and eventually eliminate him. Investigators also alleged that the accused had considered involving another person in carrying out the attack before deciding to change their approach.
Murder Became The Alleged Plan B
After the initial plan was dropped, police allege that the accused decided to kill Ketan Agarwal themselves. The chargesheet reportedly describes discussions around different ways of carrying out the crime and making the death appear accidental.
Investigators have alleged that the accused watched murder-related films and studied previous cases while preparing the plan. They also reportedly used ChatGPT and listened to podcasts dealing with ways of avoiding police detection. The investigation further examined searches and digital activity allegedly connected with the planning.
Police also allege that several possible locations were considered before Lohagad Fort was selected. The investigation has referred to places including Tiger Point and Visapur Fort, with the accused allegedly assessing different locations before settling on Lohagad.
Passport Was Allegedly Destroyed Before The Trip
Another detail in the chargesheet concerns a planned pre-wedding photoshoot trip. On June 6, Ketan and Siya were scheduled to travel for the shoot, but the trip did not take place after Ketan’s passport was allegedly torn.
According to the investigation, the passport was torn and thrown into a cafe washroom. Police allege that damaging the passport was Chetan Chaudhary’s suggestion. The incident prevented the planned journey from going ahead. The episode is significant to the investigation because police allege that the accused were already taking steps to disrupt Ketan and Siya’s plans before the Lohagad incident.
Fake ‘Mahi’ Instagram Account Used To Lure Ketan
The chargesheet also details the alleged use of a fake Instagram account named “Mahi”. Police allege that the account was created using a photograph of a woman known to the accused. Messages from the account reportedly convinced Ketan Agarwal to visit Lohagad Fort on June 18. The reason presented to him was linked to a surprise birthday plan involving Siya.
Investigators allege that the fake account was part of the plan to bring Ketan Agarwal to the fort. It was later deleted, according to the chargesheet. Police also recovered digital evidence while investigating deleted chats and activity on the accused’s devices.
Chargesheet Mentions Siya’s Alleged Reluctance To Marry
The investigation has also brought alleged conversations involving Siya Goyal into focus. Police have said that she had told several people that she did not want to marry Ketan.
An alleged Snapchat conversation cited in reports from the chargesheet shows Siya asking a friend for a copy of their Aadhaar card to book a flight ticket. Investigators have examined such conversations as part of their reconstruction of the events leading up to Ketan’s death. These are allegations contained in the police investigation and chargesheet. The claims will be tested during the legal proceedings.
Eyewitness Allegedly Threatened After Seeing The Incident
The chargesheet also includes the statement of an eyewitness who allegedly saw Ketan Agarwal being pushed from Lohagad Fort into the gorge. According to the witness account reported by police, Chetan allegedly threatened the witness after the incident. The witness reportedly approached the police several days later after seeing media reports about the case and recorded a statement.
Chetan told the witness, “Keep quiet, or I will throw you off the fort too.”
The witness’s account forms part of the evidence collected by investigators. The chargesheet also contains statements from several other witnesses and digital evidence gathered during the probe.
Investigation Now Moves Into The Courtroom
The 5,053-page chargesheet gives investigators’ account of how the alleged conspiracy developed from an initial plan to injure Ketan into a murder plan at Lohagad Fort. It also details the alleged use of a fake Instagram account, digital searches, the destruction of Ketan’s passport and efforts to avoid detection.
Ketan Agarwal was allegedly pushed from Lohagad Fort on June 18. Siya Goyal, Chetan Chaudhary and Ritesh Hange have been arrested in connection with the case. The allegations in the chargesheet will now be examined through the court proceedings, where the evidence and witness statements will be tested.
