The runout from Deepti Sharma was completely legal and in the rules. Still, some England supporters and people with less knowledge about the cricket rules tried to troll her. Some of the English supporters tried to give her a lecture on the Spirit of Cricket. I guess they forgot the World Cup 2019 final. Well, let us come back to this match; when Deepti Sharma was about to bowl, the non-striker Charlotte Dean started walking, taking undue advantage of this low-scoring thriller. With brilliant game awareness, Deepti Sharma took the bails off at the non-striking end with Charlotte Dean way out of the crease. Here is Deepti Sharma’s run out video.

The Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur’s epic reply to the broadcaster who asked her about Deepti Sharma’s controversial run out of Charlotte Dean. Harmanpreet Kaur, during a post-match presentation, said,

“You didn’t ask me about the first 9 dismissals. It’s part of the game I don’t think we have done something new. It shows your awareness of what batters are doing. I will back my players; she hasn’t done something outside the rules.”

Here is the video.

Talking about legend Jhulan Goswami, Harmanpreet Kaur said,

“When I debuted, she was a leader; before the game, I told her when I was going through the best time, people supported me, but when I was in a rough time, she was the one who supported me. I wanted to thank her and tell her she is always with us. She is a go-to person, I always call her at low times, and she was someone always guiding me.”

Rule Number 41.16.1

Many English cricketers like Naseer Hussain, Stuart Board, and even Pierce Morgan criticized Deepti Sharma on the mankad runout. However, they forgot the Cricket rules. Rule number 41.16.1 reads,

“If the non-striker is out of his/her ground at any time from the moment the ball comes into play until the instant when the bowler would normally have been expected to release the ball, the non-striker is liable to be Run out. In these circumstances, the non-striker will be out Run out if he/she is out of his/her ground when his/her wicket is put down by the bowler throwing the ball at the stumps or by the bowler’s hand holding the ball, whether or not the ball is subsequently delivered.”

We hope it is clear for all the people giving lectures on the Spirit of cricket. Harmanpreet Kaur became the Player of the series, and Renuka Singh, with her four-fer, won the Player of the match award. It was the perfect farewell for her final International game. Here are the highlights of the match.
