Recently Encephalitis caused death to more than 100 children in Bihar. The state Government seam helpless against the disease as it is taking over at a high pace. According to a report, around 290 children were admitted to the Shri Krishna Medical College. Unfortunately, more than 100 died. Those who are not aware of this rare disease we would like to inform you a bit about it and the symptoms you might spot in order to detect it early.

Encephalitis is an uncommon but serious condition in which the brain becomes inflamed (swollen).several common viruses can spread to the brain and cause it, in rare cases, including the herpes simplex virus (which causes cold sores and genital herpes. In other words, Encephalitis is an inflammation (swelling and irritation) of the brain. In most cases, a virus causes this inflammation. Encephalitis is also called acute viral encephalitis or aseptic encephalitis.

The victim of this disease shows the symptoms of high fever, severe headache, and stiff neck, problems with speaking or hearing, nausea and vomiting. In most of the cases, it is spread by herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2, arboviruses (such as West Nile Virus), which are transmitted from infected animals to humans through the bite of an infected tick, mosquito, or other blood-sucking insects, or enteroviruses.

 

Precaution And Treatment

Supportive care plays an important role in the treatment of this disease. Apart from that, it requires some antiviral therapy with a certain drug named as acyclovir. In order to avoid this, people should practice good hygiene and try to avoid the virus that is primarily the cause of it.
