India is a tropical country and monsoon is considered to be the best season. People in India go gaga over monsoon and first rain is one of the most awaited things throughout the year. During the season, there are few places in the country which get even more beautiful than they are. We can say that rains bring out the hidden beauty of these places. As the monsoon 2017 is approaching, so before you start to plan your monsoon vacations, here are a few destinations, where you can enjoy a peaceful weekend, this monsoon with your friends, family, wife, girlfriend/boyfriend.

 

1. Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu

This destination is known as 'the prince of hill station' and located in Tamil Nadu. Kodaikanal is considered to be the best monsoon destination in India. Situated in the western ghats, this place has a lot to offer to the visitors. Scenic views of and from this place which will make forget about every other thing. You can reach here from various locations. Nearest airport i.e Madurai is 135 KMs away; Coimbatore is 170 KMs and Trichy is 200 KMs. You can also reach here from Bangalore, which is almost 450 KMs, it takes approximately 9 hours via road. Nearest railway station is Palani (64 KMs). 

Major Tourist Attractions: Berijam Lake. Kodai lake, a man-made lake. Scenic view from Palani hills.  

 

2. Coorg, Karnataka

Coorg is known for being covered with dense forest. This place is also one of the best spots when it comes to biodiversity. Coorg showcases a dynamic variety of flora and fauna. It is said to be a romantic destination, which should be definitely there on your list, this monsoon. It takes 5 hours from Bangalore via road, it will be a great 270 KMs road trip. You can also reach here via Mangalore (135 KMs). Coorg doesn't accommodate any railway station, nearest are Mysore or Mangalore.  

Major Tourists Attraction: Wildlife at Pushpagiri Sanctuary. Namdroling Monastery. Talakaveri Point. You can go on exploring exhilarating trek at Kotebetta.  

 

3. Andaman & Nicobar Island

Andaman & Nicobar Island is a group of 570 islands full of mesmerizing wildlife and adventurous water sports. It consists of pristine silver sand beaches, beautiful natural beauty, mountains. Also, tribal tours is a completely distinct experience. This is already a  beautiful destination and monsoon increases its beauty like no other place. This group of islands will never fail to shock you with its awesomeness. It deserves to be on the top of your monsoon tour list. To reach you can simply take a passenger ship from Chennai, Vizag or Kolkata. You can also take a flight to the Port Blair airport.

4. Darjeeling, West Bengal

The perfect monsoon getaway of India, Darjeeling is well known for the tea plantations along with being a popular Indian tourist destination. Darjeeling is also known as 'The Queen of Hills'. It is situated at the foothills of the great Himalayan mountain range. Being surrounded by the hills, this city is blessed to receive heavy rain during the monsoon. Nearest railway station is 62 KMs away, New Jalpaiguri. It is connected with Kolkata, Delhi, Guwahati, Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore, Cochin, and Bhubaneshwar. Flights are available.

Major Tourist Attraction: Rangeet Valley Passenger Cable Car. Darjeeling Monastery, Toy Train. Adventure Sports. Also, you can't afford to miss some authentic and exotic  Darjeeling tea.

 

5. Ranikhet, Uttrakhand

Uttarakhand is full of scenic destinations and Ranikhet tops the list. It is the most beautiful monsoon destination situated in Uttarakhand. Ranikhet is surrounded by hills and is blessed to have the very pleasant climatic conditions. It is full of lush green forests; splendid view of Himalayan range increase its beauty. Nearest railway station is Kashipur; taxis are easily available from there to Ranikhet.The nearest airport is Dehradun.

Major Tourist Attractions: Endangered species including Asiatic black bears, beautiful birds, and snow leopards. Valley of flowers.
