Meet Arun Bajaj who is gaining a lot of name and fame for his Machine Sewn Paintings. Arun is called the ‘Needle Man’ of India. He is famous for a lot of his sewing work. He has made paintings of numerous famous people as well.

His Gift To Smriti Irani

Recently he gifted to Smriti Irani from, Union of Ministry a Specimen of his Masterpiece; a large 4×2 feet painting of Sikh Ruler Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The specialty of this Masterpiece was this painting was made with a lot of detailing including Courtiers and Soldiers over 2000 human figures. He says that it took him approximately a year to make this Painting that he made with Sewing Machine.

This isn’t the first time when Arun has made such a big Painting. This 35-year-old from Patiyala made a 6×4 feet Painting of Lord Krishna through which he registered his name in India’s ‘Book of Records’ for his Unique Thread Work. It used an approximate of 28,39,000 meters of Thread and took over 3 years to Complete it.

Recently Arun Bajaj presented Prime Minister of Mr. Narendra Modi with his Portrait made with Machine Stitching.

Arun Bajaj says “I was interested in painting since I was a child. When my father passed away I had to take over the shop when I was only 16 years old. This was my chance to fuse my Art with work. Now its been 23 years since I’ve been stitching and I’ve only gotten better.”

The Needle man runs a Tailoring enterprise in Adalat Bazar of Patiyala and indeed is famous by the name of ‘Needleman’. Apart from his artistic word he specializes in making Achkans and Sherwanis.

“My Obsession for this work has caused a lot of Financial crisis in my Family. But I worked hard. I never wanted to stay just a Tailor in my life. I wanted to make my name out of this.”

France and Western culture is famous for tapestry work Arun’s work thus differs from all of them because it’s sewn by machine. Such a fine work done by machine stitching takes a lot of hard work Arun says “Stitching is not easy, a little mistake can make the whole painting wrong and there is no way to Undo it. I try to make it very precise. I don’t stitch it any less or anymore.”
