A privately launched rocket with the first Arab woman astronaut on board successfully blasted off on a trip to the International Space Station (ISS). Rayyanah Barnawi, a Saudi breast cancer researcher, started on this expedition. Ali al-Qarni, a Saudi fighter pilot, accompanies her on the trip.

Rayyanah Barnawi, sponsored by the Saudi government, became Saudi Arabia’s first female astronaut. Their space mission is significant since they are the first Saudi astronauts to venture into space. Therefore, when they arrive at the ISS, they will be met by an astronaut from the United Arab Emirates, adding to the voyage’s regional significance.

Rayyanah Barnawi and Ali al-Qarni launched into space aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from the Kennedy Space Centre in Cape Canaveral, Florida, in the southern United States. The historic liftoff happened at 5:37 p.m. local time (21:37 GMT), signaling the start of their incredible quest.

The astronauts are expected to arrive at the space station on Monday morning in their capsule. After that, they will spend slightly more than a week onboard the space station performing research and carrying out their assignment.

Expressing her awe and wonder, Barnawi shared her excitement, saying, “Hello from outer space! It feels amazing to be viewing Earth from this capsule,” as she settled into orbit.
