A traffic police official in Chandigarh on Monday accused AAP MLA from Punjab Amolak Singh of misbehaving with him and using abusive language. The politician further indulged in a heated argument with Chandigarh traffic police sub-inspector Lakha Singh. Police said that Lakha Singh later complained to the MLA at Sector 17 police station. The sub-inspector added that Amolak Singh used abusive language and snatched his cell phone while stopping him from performing his duty. Police stated that the matter was looked into. But, on the other hand, opposition party members Partap Singh Bajwa and Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia demanded action against the AAP MLA.

The MLA then denied the accusations and said that it was instead the police official at the checkout who was abusive and used inappropriate language with citizens. In his defense, MLA exclaimed he faced similar behavior a few days ago. He added he and his wife were stopped by the same official at the same spot. The Incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. at sector 22/23 dividing road. It remains unclear how the video surfaced on social media. A source informs that the video was recorded on sub-inspector Lakha Singh’s phone.

Mr. Bajwa’s Tweet

“MLA Amolak Singh’s misbehavior with Chandigarh Police personnel is a fit case for his arrest. The DGP of Chandigarh Police and the SSP of Chandigarh should send the right message to the peace-loving citizens by putting them behind bars. Let justice prevail,” He further shared the videos of the MLA misbehaving on his tweeter handle. Referring to the incident, the opposition wonders whether such changes were promised by AAP in Punjab.

As responsible citizens of India, it is our duty to choose the right leader. Are these the leaders of new India? Such incidents indicate the need to put educational qualification barriers on entering politics. Do you think there should be some mandatory educational qualifications for joining a political career? Whom do you think was at fault, the MLA or the sub-inspector? Do let us know your views in the comment section.
