Indian Cricket Captain Virat Kohli Receives Padma Shri Award

 

Virat Kohli, the most talked cricketer of the moment received India's fourth highest civilian award, Padma Shri by President Pranab Mukherjee.

Kohli has been the primary target of the Australian media in recent weeks. Kohli’s comments on his relationship with Australian cricketers have generated a lot of controversy. This award definitely gives Kohli a reason to smile and brings much more focus on cricketing.

Apart from Virat Kohli, Paralympian Deepa Malik and hockey captain P.R. Sreejesh were also honoured with the Padma Shri.  Rio Paralympics medallists Mariyappan Thangavelu and Deepa Malik, discus thrower Vikas Gowda and blind cricket team captain Shekhar Naik have also been honoured

 

Expressing his gratitude, an exhilarated Virat tweeted, "What an absolute honor and a memorable day to receive the Padma Shri award from the President of India. God's been kind. Jai Hind."
