10 Surprisingly Unsold Players, Should Have Been Sold In This Year’s IPL Auction

As IPL Auction got over, few of them became billionaires and few felt heart broken and so as Cricket lovers. This year IPL Auction has made the destiny of many new ones and also shocked with few really amazing cricketers did not get any bid. We are about to witness some of the players who should have been playing in the IPL but franchises were not keen enough to take them.

1. Imran Tahir (South Africa)

Ref

Currently ranked as the world's No.1 ODI and T20 bowler, but failed to attract a single bid. His base price was 50 lakhs. Perhaps an economy rate of 8.60 from 20 IPL games for the Delhi Daredevils hurt his chances.

2. Colin De Grandhomme

Ref

At a base price of INR 30 Lakhs, most T20 sides around the world would snap up de Grandhomme in a jiffy. As things stand, though, the in-form New Zealand all-rounder will have to wait for his big IPL payday. In his short international career, Colin de Grandhomme has scored 319 runs off 285 balls across the three formats.

3. Colin Munro

Ref

Munro has 14-ball half-century against Sri Lanka at Eden Park; fastest by a New Zealand batsman in T20s. An explosive T20 batsman was with Kolkata Knight Riders in last season. But this year with base price of 50 lakhs, remains unsold.

4. Evin Lewis

Ref

An explosive West Indian opener has T20 centurion against India and globetrotting hitter-for-hire, Evin Lewis surprisingly failed to find a buyer in this year's auction. His base price was 50 lakhs.

5. Alex Hales

Ref

A T20 specialist failed to attract any buyers with his base price of 1 crores. England's regular opening batsman once ranked 1 T20 batsman will not see in this year IPL.

6. Jonny Bairstow

Ref

Jonny is not a regular member in England's ODI and T20 team as Jos Butler is their regular wicket keeper batsman. This has hurt his chances. He could be a handy choice for any franchise but with base price of 1.5 crores, Bairstow failed to attract any of them.

7. David Wiese

Ref

David Wiese was with Royal Challengers Bangalore in previous seasons. But this year he did not find any buyers. David is a very handy allrounder, could have been very useful number 6 batsman and a useful bowler with a mere base price of 30 lakhs. But its sad for cricket lovers he will not be in this year IPL.

8. Thisara Perera

Ref

An explosive all rounder played with Rising Pune Supergiants in last season. His hard hitting at the death and handy bowling could be helpful for any franchise. But with base price of 50 lakhs, he failed to attract franchise.

9. Ishant Sharma

Ref

Regular member of Indian Test Team, Ishant Sharma could not find buyers in this year IPL. With base price of 2 crores, franchises were least interested in him. Last played for Rising Pune Supergiants, this year Ishant will not be a part of IPL as he remained unsold after two rounds under the hammer.

10. Irfan Pathan

Ref

Irfan exclusion from IPL, shocked many cricket lovers. Only Indian to take a hattrick in first over, handy allrounder with hard hitting capabilities and swing bowling, Irfan should have been playing IPL. But this time he did not have his luck or we can say franchises are not lucky enough to get him in base price of mere 50 lakhs. Irfan took out Shikhar Dhawan, Yuvraj Singh and Rishabh Pant in one spell in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament but that wasn't enough to secure an IPL deal for Pathan this time.

There are many more who should have playing but we took out some of the big names, share your favorite player who should have been the part of IPL but not playing this time. This festival of India will be starting from April 5th 2017.
