What if we told you that you wouldn’t have to empty the bank to travel across 13 states in just 25 days? Doesn’t that sound impossible? A ₹3,000 annual toll pass, however, let one daring traveller complete just that! This trip, which includes both freeways and undiscovered treasures, shows that traveling in India doesn’t always require a lot of money — just thoughtful planning and a passion for driving are plenty.
Traveller Visits 12 Jyotirlingas, 4 Dhams With ₹3,000 Toll Pass
According to reports, a traveller was one of the first to fully utilize the annual toll pass that Nitin Gadkari recently introduced for a year or 200 visits, whichever comes first. The Rs 3,000 pass permits private vehicles to travel freely at selected National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) fee plazas.
He traveled 11,000 kilometers across 13 states in 25 days, seeing 12 Jyotirlingas and four Dhams, according to his Instagram post. His toll pass had 199 journeys at the beginning of his voyage; by the end, 119 excursions had been subtracted, leaving him with 80 journeys remaining.
Traveller Saves Thousands Using ₹3,000 Toll Pass
The traveller had 199 trips available on the annual pass when he first started, but by the time he got back, there were just 80 remaining. That means in less than a month, he traversed 119 toll plazas. He claims that the toll for this route would typically be between Rs 15,000 and Rs 17,000, but he was able to avoid paying that amount because of the pass.
“It wasn’t totally free,” he adds. He paid extra for certain roads, such as the Lucknow-Agra Expressway, as the annual pass did not cover them. He said that in order to enjoy the route, he drove an extra 200 km and spent Rs 1,200 on tolls and diesel. Similarly, he had to pay roughly Rs 2,400 in total in Tamil Nadu and a few other areas. Nevertheless, he thinks he took full advantage of the yearly toll pass.
The Traveller Captioned, ‘I Was Traveling Alone.’
The video’s point-of-view text says: “First Indian to do this.” The annual toll pass minus 120 journeys for 25 days. “119 Trips deducted from my Annual Toll Pass in the last 25 days only,” reads the caption. I was traveling alone on my “12 Jyotirlinga and 4 Dham” road tour.
With the description, “119 trips deducted from my Annual Toll Pass in the last 25 days only,” the traveller posted a reel to Instagram. I had four Dhams and twelve Jyotirlingas — a road trip by yourself. “First Indian to do this,” said the writing on the reel.
People on social media applauded his accomplishment. “More than 11,000 km across India in less than 30 days is not just a journey; it is an accomplishment blessed by the divine,” one person said. “Absolutely fantastic.” Someone else wrote, “Bro, you have really made the most out of the annual pass.”
How To Apply?
According to NHAI rules, only non-commercial vehicles, such as cars, jeeps, and vans, are eligible for the annual pass. A Fastag must already be linked with the vehicle’s registration number, and it cannot be blacklisted. Vehicles registered only by chassis number need to be updated before applying. Commercial vehicles like buses and trucks are not allowed under this scheme.
Social Media Reaction
Since its September 24 release, the video has received over a million views on Instagram, and many of the comments praised the endurance and commitment of the traveller.
“What you’ve done is truly extraordinary,” someone wrote. “It is more than just a voyage to cover over 11,000 miles throughout India in less than 30 days; it is a feat bestowed by God.”
“Bhai, I have used 180 times, khali 20 trips hi bache hai,” another person stated. “I’ve made eight trips from Karnataka to Rajasthan.”
“But isn’t the annual toll pass supposed to cover all toll passes?” was one of the queries that some people asked. “Is there an additional fee, kyun?” “Wo apko award denge diesel me iso butanol daal ke,” said others in jest.
