A hay-laden truck overturned onto a moving Bolero, crushing it completely and killing the driver on the spot. The tragic accident occurred on Sunday evening on Nainital Road, near Pahadi Gate in Rampur, and close to the local power house. The stretch is known to be busy, especially during evening hours, with constant movement of heavy vehicles and private traffic.
According to initial reports, the truck loaded with hay was heading towards Bilaspur and was attempting to negotiate a turn near the intersection. At the same time, a Bolero was passing through the highway cut. What followed was a chain of events that lasted only a few seconds but ended in irreversible loss.
CCTV Footage Shows The Moment Of Impact

In the video, the Bolero can be seen attempting to cross the highway cut. The truck following it appears to swerve suddenly to avoid a collision. During this manoeuvre, the truck’s wheel mounts the central divider. This proved fatal.
The heavily loaded vehicle lost balance and toppled sideways, landing directly on top of the Bolero. The smaller vehicle was crushed completely under the weight of the truck and its cargo.

Police later confirmed that the Bolero belonged to the Sub-Divisional Officer of the electricity department. However, the officer was not inside the vehicle at the time of the accident.
The driver of the Bolero was identified as 54-year-old Firasat, a resident of Gujar Tola in the Ganj police station area. He was driving alone when the truck overturned onto his vehicle. Firasat died at the spot due to the severity of the impact.

The chaos did not end there. A biker riding alongside the vehicles narrowly escaped serious injury. His motorcycle was briefly caught in the turmoil as the truck fell, but he managed to avoid fatal harm.

Teams from three local police stations, along with ambulance services and the fire brigade, rushed to the spot. Due to the weight of the truck and the extent of damage, a crane had to be deployed to lift the overturned vehicle. It took considerable time to free the crushed Bolero.
The body of the driver was eventually recovered and sent for post-mortem examination. The Bolero was left mangled beyond recognition, highlighting the sheer force of the collision. The road was cleared only after hours of coordinated effort by multiple agencies.
